There was an original topic?
![]() So... iPhone 5, or 4S, or both? You'd think that the following would be a given for the next iPhone, whatever Apple calls it: "Apple A5" SoC (ARM Cortex-A9 plus PowerVR SGX543) 1GB RAM 8MP camera What else? Any wild guesses? |

Not a wild guess but it's been heavily reported there will be a new feature called assistant. Kind of an extension of voice control it will allow you to do things like create calendar entries or dictate messages using voice

The problem with this is, I really can't see people willing to talk to their phones in public. FaceTime was supposed to revolutionise video calling - but I don't know anyone who uses it. Assistant will be the same great white hope for voice activation - and I doubt beyond the odd demo of "how cool is this?" people won't use it much either.
I think Apple have added this to catchup with android in this area. It seems ios5 seems to mainly consist of features ripped from android. |

Perhaps, but since Google spent 4+ years ripping features from iOS it's only fair game for Apple to lift some ideas from Android too.

iOS has had voice control for a couple of years now, since iOS3 & the 3GS in 2009. It will let you use voice commands to phone people, play music, etc.
The alleged new feature which davethorp mentioned is called "Assistant": http://9to5mac.com/2011/09/26/the-ne...ne/#more-94500 A lot more to it than the basic voice control iOS has had for the last couple of years. I agree with david.boobis though...I can't see too many people being bothered about using it. I don't want to talk to my phone in public, just as I don't want to use FaceTime or any other kind of video calling. |

http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/01/i...ll-questionab/ if we go by this and the usual straight $ to £ converstion apple usually use the iPhone 5 will cost £699 and I would believe that as this is gonna be expensive, and the 4S £400. I think thats sounds about right to be honest.

I think the speculation is a bit pointless as the reveal is only 2 days away.

iPhone 4 16GB US - $650 Excluding Sales Tax UK - £425 or $664 Excluding Sales Tax So we pay 14 dollars more than the US for an iPhone 4 16GB. If the device is indeed $700 Excluding Sales Tax you will probably be looking at about £550 including VAT in the UK. |
