Gears 3????? What can I say about the game. It's a 'perfect' game. People can say it's shallow but it is what it is. My only complaint is Epic charging for gun skins on the marketplace. They bring out a brilliant game and then insult us by charging for what should be free in game unlockable content.

Yeah i gotta agree with the skins packs comment. theres just far to many packs available. i dont mind paying for new map packs but not just to change the colour of the weps. gamertag is XxBlaKOuTZxX

I'm still working my way through the campaign but it's so much better than the other games in terms of variety and storyline. It seems everything together so well and the whole game is very polished. The graphics are insane, pushes the 360 to new levels and up there with the very best I've seen this gen, in some places I actually think it's without equal.
I should be playing through game in co-op and trying out the other online modes soon (looking forward to getting stuck into beast mode, that looks fun) so I'll post my impressions on that when I've played more of it. |

Just had my first play-through of Beast mode, with some randoms. Absolutely brilliant, very good fun. A lovely change from Horde mode, non-stop madness with no time to sit about worrying what to do.

I've just played through the campaign. There have been times when I have shook my head in open-mouthed disbelief at the sheer awesomeness. The graphics (with added colour this time around) are nothing short of fantastic, but the the best thing about the franchise with me is just the absurd outrageousness of the Locust Horde and the design of their weaponry, transport and equipment. I loved the Corpser in Gears 1, the Tickers and the Beast Barge in Gears 2, and in this instalment, flipped out when I saw those Gas Barges. Just superb.

Just finished the campaign (solo), it was excellent, although that final boss was an absolute bitch on Hardcore, i imagine it would reduce me to tears on Insane (it wasn't so much the boss itself, it was the bloody endless hordes of Locust that kept draining my health).
Even though the ending seemed pretty final, I hope that's not the last we see of Gears, hopefully there's some more Locust hiding somewhere in need of a good chainsaw massage ![]() Had a quick go on the multiplayer as well, it seems good (as a Beta participant, i was expecting as much), although i much prefer the close quarters maps to the snipe fests that occur on the more open maps. |

Great choice of music at the end of Act 3. I think they used it for an ad for the first game didn't they?
I got up to Act 5 last night. Should get it finished later. |

I hope this isn't the last we see of the franchise. Obviously we'll have to say goodbye to the old guard. But, get a new team of COGs, new world, new enemy. |

Finally been able to sit down and pop it on. Loving it so far, though it has reminded me how bad I am at multiplayer.

On the whole the game is excellent anwell worth the money, especially as i got one of the cheap deals at Morrisons.
Campaign was good and brought to a final conclusion though I do believe that there will be more Gears games in the future. Mostly along the line of a prequel to the original story, Pendulum wars anyone???? Horde is in two words the .....Mutts Nutts. Just awesome. Beast mode was a one trick pony, far too short and only played to get the unlockables and achievement points, I am a score whore after all. Multiplayer justs reminds me of how naff I actually am on Gears and quite regularly have my arse handed to me a plate by some prepubescent. Oh well practise makes perfect and all that........ |

Just finished the Campaign. Awesome
![]() My only niggles were story related: - Some characters and events from between 2 & 3 could have been explained better, been fleshed out more. Not everyone will have read the three books set in that period... I ended up reading Wikipedia to find out more about who the hell Sam was, and what happened in the gap. And, as Baird also wanted to know... -
Spoiler
Still, despite all that, I think the story was less shit than that of Gears 1 & 2. |

What surprises me is how young Bernie's voice sounds when she's actually Hoffman's age! Also it would've been nice (and a change for a Gears game) to be fighting along side Mac the dog! |

Urg multiplayer makes me so angry yet I can't stop playing it. Why can't it put all the crap people (like me) into games so we at least can be crap together?

Multiplayer tip: Don't bother aiming for the heads, aim for the legs and then quickly finish them off while they're defenseless on the floor. Doing this tactic i've been racking up quite a decent score on most games.

The thing that is most annoying is when the team spawns behind you, I'm not quick enough to realise. But practice makes perfect I suppose. |

You need to pull your shotty and get good.
My tip... Play Horde on your own using any weapons except the Lancer or Hammerburst. The later waves (6-10, 16-20 etc) provide some good opportunities to sharpen your skills. |
