PVR80 after DSO
Is anyone else using a PVR80(T810) with the dual-recording firmware mod? I've just tried mine and it is perfectly happy with the 8k muxes.

Isn;t the dual record effectively the T816 software, re-idented so the cabot loader will accept it?
After all, these are the same device, apart from the working memory size. |

Not exactly the same - the dual-recording software may have started out in development on the T810, but development was soon shifted to the T816 (partly why there was no official release of this software for the T810).
AFAIK, the dual-record software suffers the same bug as the older single-record software (pre-v5.7), in that in cannot handle 8K mode with muxes on a UHF channel with a negative offset. Not all transmitters are using negative offsets after DSO, hence why that software can still work. |

Emley Moor mast doesn't (and won't) use RF Channel "offsets"
Hi Quote:
I'm on Emley Moor, so presumably this is no offset or positive offset. Any idea how I find out? Thanks.

Arqiva B mux (chan 48)
It's taken a while to notice this because I don't use the PVR80.
Although the channel list shows all channels from Arq B, and I am getting good strength and quality, all the channels on this mux are showing "no signal". I don't know if this is recent or had been like it since dso. I have done a rescan and no change. I'm just curious so any ideas? |

I've just done a first-time install (accidentally!), and all the channels are back. I'm still confused so any suggestions welcomed.

I've been waiting for over a year for my PVR80 T810 twin record to fail after reading http://www.vestelpvr.futaura.co.uk/T810.php. "this software version shares the same issue as earlier versions of the standard software in that it will not work in areas after digital switchover has happened due to it not supporting 8K mode. So, v5.7 must be used instead.". Still seems OK on Emley Moor. Will they ever use the -ve offsets now that supposedly cause the problems??

Installed the single record 5.7 software and everything is now fine. For me, having the ArqB channels with single recording is better than missing them but having dual recording capability. Others may make a different decision, especially if their transmitters don't transmit use any channels with negative offsets (such as Emley Moor apparently). |
