I have noticed on my tocco lite that in the last few weeks, if you do a manual network scan that orange no longer has the no access symbol across the network mast icon.

Could we soon be getting orange network share like those on t-mobile currently already do ?

What was wrong with the 16 page thread that already exists on this subject just 10th on the list?

Forgive me if I am wrong but what has the orange/t-mobile 3G network share got to do with Virgin Mobile's access to an already shared 2G network which is what I am on about.

I did search for "virgin orange share" which came back with 0 results so started a new thread ... God forbid free speech on here

Now, can anyone be more constructive than an attempt to point me in the direction of something completely irrelevant to VM subscribers

Virgin Mobile is just a VMNO for T-mobile.

There is no difference between Virgin Mobile and T-mobile. Virgin has no infrastructure of it's own, you should experience exactly the same thing 2G and 3G wise.

Have they not enabled 2G roaming on to Orange for Virgin Mobile VMNO customers?

If not apologies.

According to that Thread, they have indeed enabled roaming for all MVNO.

Virgin aren't sharing with Orange. They don't have anything to share. The word is roaming.

If you look at the 'irrelevant' thread you'll see that roaming was recently switched on for MVNOs.

In fairness a lot of pages of reading to do, but anyway. Virgin is exactly the same as T-mo, it's a virtual network. The only difference should be who bills you and the name displayed on the handset, that's all.

Ok, the point of this thread.

If you are on T-mobile you can roam to Orange where there is no T-mobile service.

Apparently according to the above, T-mobile is the same as Virgin, and roaming to MVNO's has been enabled.

So why do at least 4 VM subscribers I know of NOT get the orange 2G signal when out of T-mobile service.

Several of you say it has happened... but apparently not ...

Hence the point of this thread.

Once again, VM access to the full EE network is not the same as T-mobile or orange subscriber access to the full EE network.

This is about access from the MVNO's (virgin in particular).

Bigger, Better Coverage
Virgin Mobile customers enjoy coverage here, there and just about everywhere. We’ve always used the T-Mobile network, which covers over 99% of the UK population, to provide our service. But from this Autumn, we’ll use the Everything Everywhere network (the company formed by Orange and T-Mobile). So, in some areas where the coverage might otherwise dip, you’ll automatically be able to use the Everything Everywhere network at the same great Virgin Mobile rates. Wherever you are, we’ve got you covered.

Maybe it's not enabled yet for Virgin Mobile?

The term "Virgin Orange Share" was just that, a search.

The situation, prior to the enabling of the access to the orange half of the EE network, which has not yet happened is that VM coverage is worsening as EE network duplication.

This brought about through the merger of the two MNO's means where TM cells have been removed there are holes in the VM coverage which are no there to subscribers of TM.

Roaming will only be temporary as the EE network will eventually become seamless and fully integrated.

I fully understand that.

What is frustrating is the removal of VM coverage where TM site have been removed before full EE access has been enabled.

Thank you to all who have pointed out that the temporary roaming will happen in the next few weeks.

Now if the mods would kindly lock or delete this thread maybe those who jumped down my throat for not immediately being able to find an existing thread of 16 pages which only had 7 references to "Virgin" in its entirety can go back to being smugly satisfied.

I remember the time when DS forums were helpful and friendly with little of the "did you not read post XXX of a completely different subject" brigade.

I think some people forget that DS is a broad church of members and we don't all have the technical knowledge to understand how mobile phone cell sites work.

A lot of the stuff in the thread mentioned goes right over my head. It either works or it doesn't and in VM's case, you can't roam on to Orange...yet.

Orange's MVNO's are all enabled. T-Mobiles MVNO's are being activated in batches right now. Due to be completed mid-October.

Cool, Virgin just say 'autumn' so that fits in perfectly then. OP, in the coming weeks you'll be able to roam to Orange.

Thank you all. I do hope now you can see why a new thread was needed.

Are the phones in question set to 'roam' if not they will not see an Orange signal.

Yes, all are set to roam (automatic network selection)

Mine works fine with a t-mobile sim when out of t-mobile service too. Roams on Orange with the Samsung roaming icon present.

Virgin sim out of t-mobile service gives 'limited service' display. We shall just have to wait.

Indeed, for the first time, I've been able to use my phone in the kitchen where I'd normally get 'Limited Service' on T-Mobile.
