All Dev seems to do is talk in her songs with very simple beats as the so-called music.

She must have had got a few personal connections when getting a record contract. The worst thing is, we're the only country has fell for her crap.

Would you say she was very pointless as an artist?

I don't think she's pointless at all.Her songs are not generic and they sound a bit different and while she is by no means a vocalist, she still brings SOMETHING to the table.I don't like her music a lot, but I wouldn't say she's pointless. The real pointless artists are the "hood" rappers that talk about the same things in all their songs and the generic artists who are just using a formula to get a radio hit but they never get success.

(Btw, she doesn't have the connections you think she has.Her connection is the Cataracs and when they got the No.1 song in the United States on which she was featured, then of course someone would sign her )

I think Dancing In The Dark is a good song. But she is having a baby now so who knows what will happen to her unreleased album.

Her album is still getting a release in other countries. It's flopped over here though by peaking at 78.

In The Dark is doing well in the US by peaking at 18 with the album due for a November release.

I guess her music is not to my taste, but it seems she is trying hard to be futuristic. Is there any evidence of her actually singing properly live?

I think she's got a very good recording voice. It's very cool and sassy, plus she has a unique image.

I loved 'Bass Down Low' and like 'In The Dark' but it's obvious she's never going to sell albums or sell out tours. She's horrible singing live.

EDIT - I recommend her song with The Cataracs - 'Top Of The World'. She sounds much better on that.

Agree, from what I've seen she is pretty useless.

I'd put her in the same category of 'song would sound much better without' along side Pitbull and his spanglish song ruining schpeel.

I don't think Dev is "pointless" at all.

The beats she uses are fantastic. She works mainly with The Cataracs, who are very talented composers of music (yes, it IS music). She song with JLS is dreadful, but most of her other songs are brilliant.

I like the way she rose to fame aswell. She got sampled on Like a G6 by Far East Movement which was a massive hit last year, and she got famous through that. It's a more natural climb to fame than most artists in the charts get these days.

She is pretty pointless. I don't see nothing new or even exciting about her. She's pregnant now so I doubt we'll hear much of her ever tbh.

Her part in JLS's song is AWFUL and so not needed. I don't get who thought that "collab" up.

I don't mind "dancing in the dark" but there's nothing interesting there that you can't find in other artists.

RedOne thought the collab up. He made the instrumental, Dev wrote and sang a bridge on it, and then he put the song up for auction for charity, and JLS brought it, and then sang their lyrics on it. Dev was already on the song when JLS got it.

I agree, it's a terrible song though. So generic. But then, this is RedOne we're talking about.

Oh I see! that makes sense i guess.

It's quite funny because (and sorry if some people in this thread aren't a fan of gaga) but most of his work with Gaga is excellent. But there's the simple answer, she's a great song writer and they both work fantastic together on his "beats". I'm talking more about her album songs actually.

"Poker face" "Judas" "Monster" and "Schiesse" have excellent instrumentals (made by him) imo, but I think it's who he works with really. I wasn't keen on his stuff with Alexandra/Pixie Lott.

But back on topic. Dev isn't a pop genius is she?

For a list of pointless artists, read the majority of X-Factor contestants, then throw N-Dubz in and you're pretty much there.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Dev is a pop genius, but I do really like her songs.

I don't like any of Poker Face, Judas, Monster and Scheisse. The only Lady Gaga/RedOne collabs I can just about tolerate are Alejandro and Love Game. I can't stand any of the rest, since they all sound exactly the same to me (they have the same instrumental as She Makes Me Wanna to me).

My favourite RedOne songs are Fire Burning by Sean Kingston and Start Without You by Alexandra Burke. But I hate 90% of what he does.

From Lady Gaga, I much prefer her songs like The Edge of Glory and You and I, since they're more different to the songs other artists release.

Before you slate an artist get your facts right, she is successful in America so it's no just this country that has fell for her.

That's the worst bit! It also irritates me slightly how in the video she acts as if she's singing/dancing along to JLS. Dev, stop pretending that you filmed your segments together!

I just listened to her new album The Night the Sun Came Up. I expected Dev to be one of these many artists who have one or a few brilliant singles, but then the rest of the album is pure garbage. But the album is actually quite brilliant. Right up my alley, as Cheryl Cole would say. Just the kind of electronic music with a heavy bass that I like.

I don't think there's any thing as an artist with a point. The world would survive without music.

I saw her at the Summertime Ball and she was so pointless, i would have rather have just listened to the CD. She came on during G6 and lip synced the whole thing unless she can make her voice like a robot....

She can't sing, she doesn't even sing, she can't rap and she's not even a good talker so what the hell is she...?

Pointless i say...let her have her baby and leave the industry in peace...

I'd agree but then again you could change the name in your title to over 90% of the artists who have graced the mainstream in the last few years...

I don't mind that 'bass down low' song but her part in the JLS song is absolutely horrible. My nan could write and perform a better rap than that.
