...that's what has been reported. That in 2012 there will be a new greatest hits with (presumeably) 3/4 new tracks on it. I'll buy it.

There is also talk of a "farewell tour", even though I didn't think they were splitting for good!?

What do you want from Girls Aloud in 2012 if the reformation does properly happen. I would deffo like some new material and a concert.

Another greatest hits is too soon, they've only had two further albums since the first one came out, and for 3 or 4 extra tracks isnt worth it, I want another full album dammit!

Girls Aloud signed a new record deal with Fascination that would see the group release another three albums

I don't think another Greatest Hits would sell that well.

since their last one they have only had 7 hits, and I doubt anyone is in a rush to hear 'Walk This Way' again!

I think its got to be a new album or it'll be a flop.

no, but they maybe tempted by the other 6 hits, including the #1 hit `the promise`. not to mention the possible new tracks.

Cheryl getting knocked down a few pegs may have been the best thing for the band. Nadine too.

I hope they just get over all of that and focus on doing what they do best; Girls Aloud.

I reckon they'll reform about September 2012. Album (or the GH) in October. Promo related stuff (audience with..etc) in early November, tour end of november/early December.

No offense, but I'll never understand how these women are considered big stars in the UK while hardly anyone knows them in every other country of the wolrd. That's not shade, this is an actual question. How is it possible?

Because that is just it. They didn't want to crack America etc as a group, they are perfectly successful in the UK where they started out (their home roots) and really didn't want to branch out (I'm not sure if that was their choice, management or if it's ever even been discussed atall).

to be honest that is a silly question. there are many stars that are huge in their home countries, yet completely unknown world wide.

Their music, amazing as it is, has an incredibly British feel to it and would only really work in the UK/Ireland/possibly some European/Australian markets - it's faaaar too pop for the US and some of the other bigger markets, and they havent really shown much of a desire to release in Asia.

Also, just seen in the thread title the possibility of another 'An Audience with...'. Does that mean more of those horiffically cringy sketches with Cilla Black somehow turning up? I seeriously hope not...

Well exactly. Plus I think Girls Aloud's/Xenomania's music has a very British sound to it. I certainly can't imagine the Americans (for example) really "getting" Biology, Can't Speak French or Call The Shots.

I never mentioned the US, why did everybody assume I was only talking about the US?When I googled them some months ago I was very surprised to see that they haven't successfuly charted anywhere but the UK and Ireland.I was just surprised that no other European country cares and as I said, it wasn't an attempt at shade, it was an honest question

Cheryl's solo stuff has done well in Scandinavia .... I just think the GA sound is a little bit tooooo pop really, and a lot of the cultural references in songs are UK-based, not that that makes a big difference, just GA really geared their music to the UK market.

Also they had a really rigid album-tour-recording routine that didn't leave much time for promotion overseas. I guess they wanted to establish a strong fanbase in their home market before expanding, but the moment never really arrived.

As I said in the Cheryl Cole appreciation thread, their PR denied this information was true in his twitter account so I don't think it's even worth to be discussed.

To be honest, if they're splitting up then their fans deserve a farwell album. If it's true then I think they should:

1. Record new album, release it
2. Go on the final farewell tour
3. Do the audience with show
4. Release final farewell tour DVD.
5. A good year after splitting up, release a Greatest Hits album.

Nah, we don't have a singles chart here They're not popular AT ALL, though.I've only seen a video of theirs broadcasted once and that was only after they won a Brit Award...Even some of the most die-hard pop fans here don't know them.

it is not that surprising really. there are other uk chart acts that are successful only in the uk and ireland. if you are from greece. do you not have domestic acts that are only successful there? that gif did make me laugh, by the way!
