Have Foxsat HDR and am very pleased with it, no problems at all, even slow epg not a bother. Also use the non-freesat mode from time to time.

I plan to fit a second dish to get Astra1, Hotbird and Badr4, just for variety. How easy is it to set up the Foxsat HDR to receive these satellites?

If I use 2 Diseqc 4 to 1 switches, (28E, 26E, 19E and13E) and feed the cables to the LNB1 and LNB2 in connections, will I be able to record in non-freesat mode?

Does the Foxsat support Diseqc, and would this work ok?

Is the English content programmes on these satellites worth the effort/expense?

Any advice, help appreciated.

You can't set timers in non-freesat

You can't record Freesat recording reservations while using/recording in non-freesat

Yes, it's all doable, I've got 28E, 19E and 13E going into my box.

However, I found it very awkward to use. You get literally hundreds of channels but the Humax makes it very difficult to browse them and organise them. You can filter them by satellite, FTA status, alphabetically, HD, and you have one favourites list I think, adn swithcing into and out of non-freesat mode requires navigation through the menus. I just found it all too cumbersome. So much so, I've just bought a FTA box for multisat and will leave the Humax to what it does best - Freesat!

I can't really answer your question about English language content. What some people like, other might not like, although I'm not particularly bothered about English language content as I initialyl wanted to do this for music channels of all kinds together with the German ones that I miss from the analogue days. But to tell you the truth, I've just never sat down and gone through the whole lot because it's been so awkward to do.

You can scan individaul transponders which reduces the number of channels that you get.

In general I agree with your comments.

I now have an Xtrend ET9000 running VIX. This has similar hardware to the Humax HDR, and gets programme schedule epg data for UK and foreign channels which makes it easy to schedule recordings. It will also drive a fixed dish with multiple LNBs on one port and a motorised dish on the other port.

I would like Humax to release hardware drivers for the HDR so that it could run Linux open (dreambox type) software.
