Seems that at least a few times a month when I go for a takeaway, I make sure to say "no salad or mayo/relish/whatever please" as I prefer a cheese slice and I like to put my own sauce on, usually BBQ - yet there's always one braindead person who works in these places who WITHOUT fail puts a load of soggy lettuce and what seems like a whole bottle of mayo on my burger! What I wanna know is, why they do this, why automatically put salad on even when the customer specifically requests NOT to have it?! It just doesn't make sense to me. Surely if someone wants salad and/or mayo then all they have to do is ask? It costs the company money too, as I always make sure I get the burger replaced. Can't imagine their boss being too happy about that! Anyone else had a similar experience?

I hate mayo too, but just ask for no mayo, and thats what i get. I just be very clear about it. Sometimes my wife gets no mayo though, and thats awkward.

Just dont walk away until you've checked what you have, and make them make another if its not what you asked for.

Also where is the solution in your post?

The solution is that fast food workers should get their brains in gear and not put anything on a burger unless the customer asks for it, especially if they specifically request to have it plain. I usually have no problems, but there's always the one complete thicko working at a takeaway.

Your solution isn't great though because we are in the minority. So they would be getting even more orders wrong.

If there's always one thicko as you say, then the solution would be not to eat there. However I think you're being incredibly disrespectful to fast food workers, at least they do a hard days graft, even if you do get the occasional squirt of mayo on your dog meat burger.

I'm not saying all fast food workers are thickos, far from it. However, there's always one who has to go and mess my order up even though I clearly state exactly how I want it. I wouldn't exactly call KFC 'dog meat' either.

To be honest it doesn't bother me. If I'm having a burger from my local Kebab Emporium then it's a ½lb Garlic Burger with all the trimmings. Goes down a bloody treat.

Probably because they are so used to people wanting it?

My local takeaway has now started giving the salad in resealable plastic tubs so you can just add your own.
A bonus is that you get to keep the tub which are quite handy for food storage in the fridge/freezer or for packed lunches/picnics.

A standard burger but with added garlic sauce. I hope they used proper garlic sauce and not garlic mayo which is bleughh!

Oh ok, I thought it might be slow roasted whole cloves of garlic in the actual burger or something.

That'd be a bit posh for a greasy kebab/burger shop!

When in Newcastle I had chips with a cheesy garlic sauce. I called it posh chips, cheese and garlic.

I've tried making it myself at home and it's quite nice. Not as good as the crappy takeaway chips and cheap chese that you get though. There's just something about them that make them so good

So true. Unfortunately I can't really have them anymore as I'm trying to lose a bit of weight I usually just go to KFC or Maccy Ds for my fast food fix, their food is a lot healthier these days!

They make their own Garlic Mayonnaise on the premises. It's thick, yellow and very garlicky, just like a good garlic mayo should be. It's then spread onto the top and bottom of the bun.

Around here the garlic sauce is sually half mayo and half yoghurt/soured cream etc.

A good recipe.
2 cloves of mined garlic
4 tsp mayo
4 tsp yoghurt
salt & lemon juice to taste.
