McCarthy's Restaurant
How strange that the only customers for the opening night of McCathy's restaurant in Coronation Street tonight were the residents of the Street plus a couple of extras representing "the press".
And why did they have such tiny tables at which to sit? Tyrone and Kirk had to eat their dessert whilst holding it, not because they had been brought up in an uncouth way, but simply as there was no room on the table.. |

Also, where exactly is it? I don't recall seeing the outside and I presume it's near the street SOMEWHERE...

And I though it was going to be a classy restaurant, not a big steakhouse thing with buffalo horns on the wall and a name that sounds like an Irish pub in Santa Ponsa.

I thought it looked ok! I thought it was going to be a bit posher but Liz said something about it geing grilled and not gourmet.
The tables looked an average size to me. One thing, were the meals for free?!? |

The Duckies, Tyrone & Kirk all sat at a booth, hence the "squashed look" and, yes, the food was free for the opening night. Why else would the Duckies be there!!!??

I'm sure 'dalton007' the TV cameraman from granada - who in fact knows less about granada than I know about Outer Mongolia - will be able to tell us everything about it, NOT.

In Hollywood they build all sets to 7/8's of real size in order to make the characters seem a little bigger. I think it's half size for Tom Cruise. But perhaps they did the same with the tables in the restaurant. I liked Vera's line that her steak was so raw, she was afraid it would eat her salad. Rudi

Penny decided to give the extra money to Ciaran so he could open up. I thought it was going to be a very different restaurant too. But I have to say I think it would be a nice place to go out for food. Nice steaks, ribs, salsa sauce, loaded potato skins mmmmmmmm hungry now.
Did anyone else think Dev was being horrible last night. I understand that he has a lot on his mind with Leanne running around saying he came on to her and then fired her but he was way ott in my opinion. Sarah though as a waitress needed a good slap. If was out to dinner, free or not and I was given that kind of attitude I'd be so annoyed. |

What I want to know is why did Ciaran spend all that money doing the restaurant up??? A few weeks ago just before he and Penny bought it they went for lunch there didn't they because Mike turned up. Well the place looked ok then so why on earth has he spent a small fortune practically rebuilding the place? He could have saved Penny a few bob there. What made me laugh was when Dev kicked off at Sarah for serving them steak ..... "We're HINDU'S we don't eat steak!!!" LOL

I think the food was only free for the Duckworth's as Ciaran lost a bet for £200 with Jack over the bowls match....I don't think it was free for everyone or Blanche would definitely have been there!!!!

not the greatest storyline Corrie has every done but at least it hasn't been done to be sensational and OTT.
the restaurant i think is somewhere near the high street probably near Dauphines..Cairan has been conned in getting the work done on it was basically done already and just needed painting.. As someone pointed out it doesn't look posh enough to get the custom and the tables are small not just in ones in booths where Vera was.. Ciaran said he needed to get 50 people a night or something but there is only enough tables for 10!!! It was only ready yesterday morning and he never got a licnese to seel drink or food or even went out to buy the ingredients! |

so many unanswered questions - like how an old lady like Rita manages to bring back all her stock from the forever-mentioned cash and carry when she doesnt own a van or anything! or how EE are always waiting on deliveries from the brewery but Corrie always seems to have plenty of alcohol to go round!
