Right, so basically I am eligible for an upgrade with T Mobile and the choices I have are....

HTC Wildfire S
HTC ChaCha
Sony Mini Pro (the keyboard flip thing)
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Motorola Defy (never heard of that)
LG Optimus Black
Nokia E6
Nokia C7

Any opinions?

I will use the phone mainly for calls and texts and will be a casual internet user at best. However I am keen to experience Android.

T Mobile have said they'll give me free internet as well.

Personally I'd go for the HTC Wildfire S out of that list.

Just replaced my old Blackberry Curve but wasn't eligible for an upgrade, not until Oct 18th, problem was the phone was completely useless for anything other than calls (dropped it and cracked the screen/faulty touchpad).

I looked at some of those in your list and the HTC was in my top three, I finally decided to go with the iPhone 3GS as it was on special offer. I know it's not in your list, but I'd have a chat with them and see if they would do you a deal - yes it's an old model but it's still very hard to beat.

Either the SE Xperia Mini Pro or the LG Optimistic Black. Depends on if you want a physical keyboard.
The Wildfire S is in a class below these two. Also the iPhone 3GS is very old these days, avoid.

Plucked for the LP Optimus in the end - should be here Friday however Play have an offer for the Sony Xperia Play unlocked, sim free for only £199.99....this is tempting, might just see how much CEX will pay for the Optimus brand new and buy the Sony Play instead..
