Just reading Media Week and Media Guardian and I see Corrie had an impressive share. Maybe the Honor effect? I thought she did well EE is doing well too. I always thought the press coverage about the ratings went overboard considering it only lost to Emmerdale twice. The press was right about the quality of the show though IMO.

7.30pm Coronation Street had 11.5 million and a 54.4% share
8pm EastEnders had 11 million and a 47% share

Well, I know Corrie had at least one extra viewer last night in the form of my dear old Dad, watching through misty eyes as Pussy Galore once more minxed into view.

Your Dad might enjoy the upcoming bedroom scenes then I have to say Honor looks amazing for 77. I hope I look that good when I am 47, never mind 77!

I don't think I dare tell him, he'll probably keel over from excitement

I see that the Media Guardian didn't mention Corrie's earlier performance on Monday night. More pro-bbc bias from them...

I don't get it - wasn't there another thread on this saying Eastenders did better then Corrie?

Yes, but the info on that thread was only taken from Media Guardian which "conveniently" failed to state the audience that Coronation Street got for its 7.30 audience.

Corrie is not surprising, it's on top form. But EE on a Monday getting 11 million? Friday and I would understand, but I thought they were more around 10mil on average right now. Well, they sure are clawing their way back, not just by ratings but quality. Its a long long road til they are back on form though.

Why is everyone still bleeting on about one soap getting one-up on the other, when for the last ever the same people have been bleeting on about actual viewing figures not being worth their weight. Mediaguardian isn't showing any obvious BBC/EE bias by not putting the Corrie viewing figures. Last time this argument came up, everyone was saying how the percentage share is more important, and that is what the Guardian put up. Besides, Mediaguardian goes for days, sometimes weeks, without saying how EastEnders did, in numbers or percentage.

Last night's corrie made me realise it's about time 2 monday night episodes go. Nothing much happened and I thought it was a waste of half an hours scheduling. I used to love the high drama 8:30 shows but now I'm bored of them and would be happy to see them go as they've served their purpose and run out of steam.

chocopop, overall they beat Corrie in ratings. Eastenders is at No. 1 and Corrie is at No. 2 - as I tell people, you can look in Heat, they officially come from BARB which the television channels use.

Yeah, I always read Heat and see the ratings... But they will never be ahead of Corrie again unless the actual QUALITY of the show is upped. Simple steps of how to do that, but the producers are very stubborn. "The Ferrairas are great and benefitial to the show!"

Ratings are not as important as public opinion.

Thats the combined weeks episodes (inlcuding omnibus) though. EE's omnibus does far better than Corrie's.

Anyway, im glad EE did well. I do actually feel it has been picking up recently and am starting to enjoy watching it again

Yea definitely! There are still times when i just leave the room to do something else (like when those damn Ferrieras are on) but episodes like today without most of the annoying characters (Andy being the annoying one) i really enjoy!

I only started this thread to make the point that Honor Blackman's appearance boosted ratings. I thought I may as well mention EE's as they were in the same article. It wasn't started to 'bleet' about one beating the other.

Heat magazine are extremely biased when it comes to EE & Corrie. When you look at the pick of the day, EE is usually pictured giving it 5 stars all the time (even if the high point of the programme is if someone breaks their fingernail ) whereas Corrie gets the occasional 5 star treatment but not nearly as much as EE. Even during the last 18 dreadful months, HEAT ignores this fact.
