From Media Guardian:
EastEnders showed further evidence of its return to form in the wake of the arrival of nightmare-neighbours family the Millers, with 11 million viewers and a 46% audience share at 8pm. Thirty minutes later on ITV, Coronation Street, with special guest star Honor Blackman, managed 10.3 million.

From Media week:
A strong night for soaps was sealed with EastEnders clinching a 47.9% share of the audience and almost 11 million viewers at 8pm.

EE is improve in the rating, will it last or was it a one off?
Good news for LB and MY.
Will the rating improve even more when Peggy return on Thursday?

Didn't find it very glorious - far too much Spencer (FAR FAR too much ) and ditto the Sam wedding storyline. Not enjoying Martin's stalker either (well, probably about as much as he is )

Corrie actually got 11.5 million and a 54.4 % for the 7.30 pm episode. Sorry Garbage for confusing you in the Honor thread

I've given up caring about ratings, because they vary so much from source to source, so I tend to judge an episode on a) my own opinion and b) the reaction of the majority to it.

Signs of recovery?

Nah....I don't think so. The Millers will need more time to convince me... Shannis or DenRon as I call it is just a drone.... Sharon and Dennis only use each other as "f---- buddies" when they get can't get any.

The Ferrira's are just dull...Sasha and Karrena win it for me hands down with that lot. Martin's drunken antics...can't anyone be loyal in a relationship in Albert Square? On top of that the return of Peggy Mitchel...Barbara Windsor is washed-up has-been desperate to revive her flagging career.

No, its not recovring, and I can't see any improvements at all in this "soap".

Wow, that sure was negative.

I disagree... It is definantly improving (IMHO).

Isn't the return of Peggy/Babs a good thing?

Is the thread about ratings not quality?

Ratings are increasing, generally meaning its recovering.

Anyone who says they can't see it showing signs of recovery must just be ignorant or wanting it to fail, as it is clear to me efforts are being made however small they may be.

It seems to me Neily you don't even like the show, most people who watch it regularly will know that it has been improving lately.

EE has been slightly better of late, but the producers are suffering from the bad storylines that have gone before them: i.e. anything and everything to do with the Ferreiras and Martin and Sonia's marriage.

I feel that EE has been improving, aside from the odd storyline or two, but I don't think bringing Peggy back is a good thing, mainly because I never really liked her before, she just shouts too much and goes on about her 'famileee". IMHO I'd rather see EE try and improve more, without her, because it can. The quality of EE going down and Babs leaving I feel was a coincidence, and I don't think that bringing her back will help. EE need to realise that they can improve and do well without bringing back 'popular' characters. They brought back Den because viewers loved him before and they thought the same would happen 2nd time around but it didn't. Now EE needs to improve and they bring Peggy back. TPTB need to learn that they don't have to resort to bringing back characters to make EE better, and that they can do this by working with the characters they've already got.

Peggy was always going to come back though wasn't she?? She planned to take a year out or something but then was injured/fell ill so had to take longer out.

Isnt Peggy only coming back for a few weeks then returning full time next year?

EE is the only soap I watch and I'm enhoying it at the moment. I dont miss Phil or Peggy at all. Lets face it, Peggy is just supposed to be Violet Kray and its been done to death.

I think a lot of the scripts over the last year had to be hastily rewritten due to Casey and Jessies pregnancies and Barbara Windsors illness and a lot of storylines were shelved. This didnt help.

The Sam/Andy story is annoying me at the moment because are we really supposed to beleive that someone who grew up with Phil and Grant wouldnt be able to spot an bad 'un at 50 paces? Bear in mind shes supposed to have travelled abroad, worked as a holiday rep then a pole dancer. No one from the background she comes from could be so naive when it comes to men, surely?

All in all though, apart from a few exceptions (Pauline, The Millers except Mickey, Sasha) I'm liking EE's at the mo and I hope it continues.

.
This is true but she hasn't had much luck with men apart from Ricky. She might be desperate and believe she has actually found someone who loves her!
