It's official Marry The Night is the fifth single taken from her third album Born This Way.

That's the most grievous misspelling of Scheisse I've ever encountered...

Oh.

Oh, well.

X FACTOR PERFORMANCE.

Preceded by 30 seconds of Funeral Instrumental Intro.

Honestly I'm waving the Y&I era away already!

With an X-Factor performance this is going to smash!

i am shocked that `you and i` didn't do better? the last i heard she was coming over to promote it? i love `marry the night` also and i agree a x factor performance will give the song the success it deserves.

I am by no means a GaGa fan, but I've listened to her album and MTN is not one of the most special tracks.I feel like she chose that only because it's the only typical radio friendly song left on the album and because the critics said it's a stand-out alongside with EOG.However, the song, compared to some other tracks, is rather generic and common and, while it does showcase the concept of the album, it's incredibly similar to EOG when it comes to the overall sound and vibe. It's not 2010 anymore (wow, one year later, GaGa's position has changed quite a lot!), so a radio hit is not what she should be going for.Why doesn't she listen to her fans? The majority like 'MTN' but they LOVE 'HML', 'GH' and Scheisse...Anyway...

If things are done correctly and if the promo is appropriate, this is definitely the first good single choice since BTW. TEOG was a good single choice too, but its release was very messy and the promo was not the best.
MTN has a lot of potential.

This is amazing news, finally she has picked a single that actually has a chance for some major chart success!

So happy I could die right now!

Who was that aimed I wonder? . Certain people may say that it was only chosen because it's radio-friendly(), but since the album has been out, tonnes of fans said that this is a potential single. It could have been released earlier, but hey. It's a great song.

This is a good choice and should've been the 4th single and she should be preparing to release Scheisse now. You and I was a flop choice and was never going to set the charts alight, I don't know whose decision it was to release it but it was a wrong choice

This should have replaced You and I but maybe Shiebe will be the 6th release?

I think its a bit of a safe choice, its quite typically a 'GaGa' song but I can see it doing alright. I'm surprised You & I hasn't done better than it did. I'd personally have preferred Bloody Mary or Sheiße.

It's doing well in the US after being in the top 10 for a month now, which I'm sure was what they expected. Just wish they'd considered the other territories a bit more with it.

These things happen, hopefully they've learnt a lesson. It's still a good song regardless and she met her new boyfriend, so silver lining and all that.

It was a moderate success in America but I think the intention of releasing this was to show non fans that she wasn't all 'pop' and could try different things and it could boost album sales. This hasn't really happened and it was a total flop in other territories. I can't imagine for one minute Interscope thinking it was a big success.

I'm glad they are releasing MTN now, but I just wish it was released last time as a grand performance on the VMA stage would surely have sealed a number one hit. This song coupled with a good video and XFactor performances should prove to be a big hit which she needs to boost album sales back up

I doubt Interscope will be pointing fingers over Y&I's success (or lack thereof) considering Judas was their decision, and it's sold more than that (will be approaching platinum/million soon enough).

I find it hard to like this song. I've tried to but I just can't get into it. Still better than You & I though, which IMO is the worst from the album. I can't wait to see the video though.

They wanted Judas because they thought it was a very typical 'Gaga' song and thought it was a sure fire hit. Unfortunately it didn't quite take off as expected. The only big hit the album has produced was BTW which is a bit disappointing considering the album has sold so well and the fact that she is currently the biggest pop star about. Katy Perry is nowhere near her level yet is securing hit after hit so Gaga should be getting number ones l

Hopefully MTN will buck the trend and give her the number one she deserves. A great video and XFactor performances should seal it

Well, BTW was the only mega-hit out of the four, but TEOG was a big hit too. Just went 2x platinum over in the US this week in fact.

It's pretty straightforward why Gaga isn't matching/beating Katy Perry's single success. Primarily, the music isn't as commercial, secondly - like you say - the album has sold so well which takes away single sales.

MTN is probably her last shot as a commercially successful single with this album, and I'm not 100% convinced it's commercial enough. It would be a real shame to not be given the attention it deserves because it's not as easily accessible as the latest LMFAO track, or whatever. C'est la vie, though.

I can envisage Interscope pushing her to work with RedOne more next time. Garibay and Whiteshadow produced some great tracks but I think they'll want her going more commercial next time because snash hit number one singles will enhance the Gaga brand like nothing else
