I didn't really have any expectations about the film. I only saw it because my daughter wanted to.
Have to say, I really enjoyed it - as others have said, a real feel good movie. I thought the two leads were a bit insiped. But loved Alec Baldwin and "Hey Man", particularly his little South American dictator suit. And Tom Cruise. What can I say? As well as being the best thing in it (Hey Man a close second), he was hot. I think I am a bit in lust with him now.

Having seen the West End show of Rock of Ages, I knew most of what was coming, but they mixed it up a bit, and it was a very good adaption. And they had Def Leppard songs in it too! In the musical they couldn't get the rights to their songs, so they mentioned it on stage lol. |

Saw this today - wasn't bad actually albeit cheesy, and Russell Brand's wavering accent was pretty strange.

This was one of if not the most atrocious film I have ever seen in my entire life! The plot, the acting, absolutely terrible.

I went to see this with my friend last week and we both loved it, a real cheesy, sing-along feel good movie that made us leave the cinema looking like this
![]() I am however quite shocked and confused by my sudden lust of Tom Cruise, I never could stand him but after seeing him in Tropic Thunder and now this I have developed quite a crush on him I cant believe I just wrote that. Not only did we head bang to the end credits (there was all of 5 people in the cinema) and reanact Russell Brands walk down the stairs with the hip thrusts we also sang the songs and made plans for our own musical while waiting for our lift (much to the amusement of a few people). It was a very enjoyable way to spend an afternoon

Didn't rate this really, too slow and boring.
I enjoyd the extras where they were talking to the old rock stars more than the film. |

I was quite disappointed by it...lets be honest, the stage musical is yet another in a long line of excuses to string a bunch of popular songs together with a flimsy story, the sort of which seems to be infesting London's West End at the moment.
So the source material was never that strong to start with. With programmes like Glee and so many X Factor and similar song based programmes, this sort of thing is starting to become tiresome. The problem is the public seem to have been brainwashed into only watching films, programmes and even theatre with that 'recognition' factor..it has to have something they have heard of before they will go and see it. Therefore theatre has now become a mass of tribute shows to various bands, singers, and even versions of popular films. Films are mostly remakes, reboots, versions of old tv shows or comic book based. It's sad that the vast majority of the public will not go and see what are brilliant films and shows which are entirely original, because they have 'never heard of it'. And for those who would say I am not taking it in the right spirit and it's 'only a bit of fun', well our whole entertainment industry seems to be now awash with tatty rubbish that is 'only a bit of fun. It's ok now and again, but there is far too much of it. That said, I did think Cruise came across pretty well (never really understood the hatred for him anyway...he has done some excellent stuff...Born On The Fourth Of July, his hilarious cameo in Tropic Thunder, and for me his best ever acting role was in Magnolia). And there were a few funny moments, primarily between Brand and Baldwin. |

I saw this a few months ago. I'm a bit hit and miss with musicals, but I quite liked this one. I particularly enjoyed Russell Brand and Alec Baldwin. The couple sitting next to me flounced out after watching for about twenty minutes. They hadn't realised it was a musical!!

Finally got to see this recently and i really liked it. It's a bit cheesy but it has one of the best ensemble casts I have seen in a musical for ages. It was always lovely to see Catherine Zeta Jones in a good role again, as her career choices since her Oscar win have been awful.

Can't believe Def Leppard put their name to this and allowed their songs to be used in it!

When I went and saw it at the cinema the picture cut out for the last 5 minutes of the film. We had audio but just a black screen.
I'm not sure what it says about the quality of the film but everyone just sat looking at a black screen listening to the audio only and when the track changed to what we would assume would be the track playing over the credits people got up and left. You would think people would have complained but they didn't. Without seing the visual for the ending it was so predictable and obvious what was happening I don't think anyone felt like they needs too or wanted too complain and say we can't see anything. Let's just listen and when we think the credits are rolling we'll go. |
