Although I didn't watch it, what do you mean when you say " hate it when they do those ones" What was significant about it to label it like that?

It was one of the character driven episodes where nothing much happens but the characters are explored. In this particular episode it revolved around several couples having conversations in bed.

I actually quite like these sort of episodes.

they have done single character episodes before that have been very well done, after all we can't justhave people sleeping with each other and getting divorced etc. we do need some character development but lasts night episode was abit dire.. Not really believable that all those people would all be awake then.. why not make it in the evening instead ?

why is it they also do a scene with Alfie going i saw you at the bar last week chatting up a customer.. why not actually put that scene in last week so we can see it.. it's like when they say i always remember this as a child, or we alsways used to do xyz.. just look at the number of couples that have a song they always listened to after they have gone but you never ever saw them listening to it when they were there

I don't really mind two-handers, although I don't really like them much either, and the odd one has been gripping (Kat/Zoe and the whole uncle thing for eg). But tonight's episode was totally boring. I went to do the washing up after 20 minutes because nothing seemed to be going anywhere. Why have they resurrected the Kat/Alfie problems all of a sudden? If it had been a theatre production I'm sure it would have all been very clever having various characters in various beds - but it isn't a drama, it's a soap opera. Stop showing off and get on with the bloody story. Was it because there was football on the other side and they thought nobody was watching? Or to make Thursday's episode with the return of Petty (gasp, hold your breath) more exciting in comparison?

It was as if they were all at drama school or were being directed by Pinter. Are the scriptwriters new and practising too?

We did see it - an episode or two ago. Alfie was looking on like a hurt puppydog while she, not seeing his reaction, flirted with a customer.

I'm really surprised at the negative reactions - I quite liked it. I certainly liked the IDEA of the character development, after all haven't we all been moaning they don't bother with that? I thought the structure was good, showing the different couples and their problems (was even SURPRISED, and EE doesn't often surprise me now except with its cr*pness) by the resurrection of the Shaz/Dennis plot, and enjoyed that simply because I wasn't expecting it.

Sam hadn't put her doubts aside at all, that was obvious. She was just covering them up to prevent Andy walking off, and hoping for the best, poor stupid woman. At least that was in character - she did exactly what you would expect her to do.

I thought the storylining was fine, but the writing did let it down a bit - it was quite good, but not up to best EE standards.

Kat lookedfifteen months pregnant.
Sam's acting was total pants.
The Martin and Sonia scenes were borrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring
Sharon looked like someone had painted her with Ronseal antique pine (it does exactly what it says on the tin), and for once seemed to have been parted from her beloved black jacket - which seems to have been staple gunned to her back - only for us to see her in a black silky kimono. And what was with all those Miss Piggy hair extensions ?????
It was crapola episode.

Lol, KittyLitter, I have to agree with your assessment of Sharon. She looks like she's in the wrong soap.

The problem I had was that I couldn't follow what they were talking about, particularly Alfie/kat/ I can recall very little of the conversations.

It wasn't even original! It was a rip-off of a TV series:

Starring: David Gillespie, Sheila Hancock, Emma Pierson, Claire Skinner, Meera Syal, Stephen Tompkinson, Timothy West
Directed by: Andy Hamilton

Bedtime takes a peek behind the curtains and watches the night-time rituals of three contrasting couples in the last half hours of their day. Written by Andy Hamilton (Drop The Dead Donkey), Bedtime is a funny, moving and compelling mini-soap set in the bedrooms of adjoining house, in an ordinary street, in an ordinary London suburb...

The Sheila Hancock/Timothy West version sounds a lot better

Oh, you mean you didn't see it? Yes, it was brilliantly acted, storylined and written. Not at all like Eastenders.
