Foxsat no sound on SD
I have an odd problem where all HD programmes play perfectly but SD channels have no sound. The Foxsat has HDMI to an Onkyo receiver and SD material displays but there is no way I can get sound regardless of the available settings on the Onkyo.
Any thoughts as to what I should try next? Forgot to add I downloaded a ts file from the HDR and it plays OK with sound on a PC. Mediainfo says sound is MPEG-1. |

I guess you are using the HDMI for audio?
Does the Amp for the HDMI input have an option like "Auto Format Decode" or similar? Most amps will examine the signal and select the appropriate mode e.g. PCM or DD. If no joy, which model amp do you have? Automan. |

The Onkyo is a PR-SC5508 and it does have fixed/auto for PCM and DTS. It is set to Auto although I tried fixed PCM with no joy. A downloaded from Foxsat SD .ts file plays fine on a PopcornHour C-200 connected to the Onkyo and the system did work properly at first but now seems to have gone awry. I have been through the Onkyo settings and manual but nothing will bring the sound back. Next thing to try is changing the inputs on the Onkyo to see what happens. Just wondered if anyone else had this problem.

I tried running a digital coax, different HDMI lead, different input port, Foxsat straight into the Panasonic plasma to no avail. In the end I decided to do a factory reset of the Humax and everything started working again. Bit of a pain as I now have to redo the series links but at least I will be able to hear some of what I record!

I'm having the exact same problem, with the same equipment.
Did you have both HDMI and the Optical connectors connected on the Humax and the Onkyo? Thanks |

Is the volume on the humax turned down. This doesn't affect the HD channels as they send digital sound.
