I have been quite a big fan of the Sugababes ever since the old days of Overload up until now with Freedom. I loved 2.0 and 3.0 of the group and didn't really have a problem with the current line up. However, I've just been on youtube and saw the videos for Freak Like Me, Hole In The Head and In The Middle, and as much as it pains me to say I think they've lost thier way and become too much like the rest of todays bunch of girlbands. They were so edgy, gritty, and unique. When I first heard Freedom, I was excited about what was to come but after just a few listens I'm bored of it and I have deleted it from my iPod. I can't help but feel that they will never get back to their glory days... What do you lot think?

THEN: Freak Like Me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSAGsiVSoeE&ob=av2n

NOW: Wear My Kiss: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68D4GB6zJFc&ob=av2n

As I say I have always been a fan, but now Freedom has bored me to tears! I miss the old days of 2.0 / 3.0!

I love About a Girl, Wear My Kiss & Freedom so to me they still release consistently good music. I look forward to the next single which I hope does well for them.

Yeah, there ok songs. But I guess my point is that any of their recent songs could be sang by The Saturdays or Parade. Where as Freak Like Me etc was a sound that only they had?

OH NOT AGAIN!!!!!!

So, I agree with you 100% that pop classics like FLM, PTB and 'Round Round' are not to be compared with their 2008-2010 material. However, 'Freedom' is an amazingly constructed pop songs and while not as cutting edge as their debut and sophomore album, it is still different to the pop we hear on the radio.

However, I don't understand why 4.0 have to take ALL the damn blame!!!Sugababes lost their touch and their groundbreaking approach to pop music after Mutya's departure. And it was Keisha who tossed that image to the trash! She was choosing their direction and she was even to an extent responsible for Amelle's downfall.Mutya never tried to be a cute girl and Keisha knew that but she let the label go ahead and launch Amelle incorrectly. The 'About You Now' song/video could have been done by any other girlband and that can't be said about their previous work .Also, Keisha chose to work with "A-list" producers from America and that wouldn't work even if she hadn't left the group (remember 'Get Sexy' sliding down the charts in less than 2 months - not so graceful...)

'Freedom' is the first real offering by 4.0 and it was a buzz single, so why can't we just all (fans, non-fans, haters) give them ONE chance to really prove themselves with their lead single?Isn't it too early to judge a whole line-up without having heard anything from them but the songs that Keisha chose and a buzz single??As I said numerous times before, 4.0 are the Sugababes in the making and they can represent the brand very well in the future.

(sorry for the long post )

Haha. Oh I'm not hating honest! Freedom is without a doubt their best thing in recent times! I totally see your point with Keisha taking the band to America too (I didn't realise it was her choice to do that). If Mutya was still in the band, Get Sexy would have never have happened. But, I will give 4.0 a chance. Would love the Sugababes name back at the top! They would really suit a Katy B sound I think!

I didn't know keisha controlled their new sound I like all the line ups for me mutya was the voice of the sugababes.
Also like amelle even though I don't agree what she did recently I like jade too however for me she should have ccontinued as a solo artist not part of the group.
I was always susprised heidi never went solo as I heard she was offered a solo deal by simon around 2005.

I'm sorry but that has left me totally confused - you made similar claim in the other Sugababes thread and I just couldn't believe it - Is it the result of your own assumptions about the band's evolution? Or is it something you're able to back up with real info? To me it just seems to bizarre Keisha had such a lead on the band only to be ousted the way she was. It clearly doesn't make any sense. To me, that's the management who was getting more and more controlling over the band's musical direction and image. I'm sure Keisha knew what she wanted and would have like to lead the band but I'm not sure the band's management saw it that way.

Let me clarify this.I'm not saying that Keisha was the only one calling the shots, I'm saying that she was the only Sugababe who could actually take part in the decision making.I can't give you a link for the different stories, because they are either from 2008 ('Catfights') or from 2009-2010 (S7), but I can tell you that in 'Catfights', their first chart disaster, had hardly any songwriting credits by Heidi and Amelle (just 1 songwriting credit for each) but Keisha co-wrote almost every track on the album.Of course the label waa controlling, but Keisha still had a lot of power in her hands. And when it comes to what I said about Amelle, I didn't say that Keisha was the one who constructed Amelle's image, I'm saying that Keisha let the label go ahead and create a bad image for Amelle that didn't represent the Sugababes properly.Imo, as an "original" Sugababe, she should have tried to lead the label and Amelle to the right direction, but she didn't.

Keisha was responsible for the demise of the sugababes, lets face it, if she hadnt pushed them into going to America, totally ruined her relationships with both Heidi and Amelle through bitching, bullying (im assuming since Amelle had to go to a mental health spa to get better), then the sugababes would still have been on top, despite get sexy dropping quickly they were only a few thousand copies behind Run this town, and that had jay-z fans, rihanna fans and Kanye fans buying it, so i say thats pretty impressive.

The Mutya+Keisha+Heidi line-up if for me the ultimate Sugababes lineup. However I have loved each and every line up and as long as they are still going i'll definitely be supporting them.

Personally, I think Freedom is one of the best Sugababes songs since Ugly. They have plenty of hits left in them!

I still see Wear my Kiss as a song from the Keisha era and although I pregfer Jade's vocal on it, it wasnot suited to her voice. The Keisha, Mutya and Heidi era is the real sugababes era, 3.0 less great but I am loving 4.0 and Freedom had so much promise and was badly handled. I don't buy this "buzz single" idea.

It was a great lead single. It did create buzz but it was left too long to release - the buzz died down and they had to give it away free. The management have let Heidi, Amelle and Jade down (again) I really hope their album is as fab as it deserves to be!
