Soul singer & godmother of rap Sylvia Robinson has died of heart failure. She leaves a huge legacy behind.

Here's where she made her name, a MASSIVE record that enabled her to put a stamp on popular music that will be felt for a long long time:

Mickey & Sylvia - Love Is Strange

From the label she created. Has rap ever been better, or said more? I don't think so.

..not forgetting her UK Top 20 hit Pillow Talk in 1973, a long forgotten gem which included quite a bit of rather suggestive heavy breathing !

R.I.P. I'm not familiar with her music, granted that I was born long after her musical peak, but I hope her supporters are going to keep her legacy alive

What a classic! One of my favourite R&B tracks of the fifties.

R.I.P. Sylvia.

I once did Kareoke to rappers delight...i was 1 min in when i realised the lyrics are so stupid and it goes on for about 6 more mins!

'I said a hip hop,
Hippie to the hippie,
The hip, hip a hop, and you don't stop, a rock it
To the bang bang boogie, say, up jump the boogie,
To the rhythm of the boogie, the beat'

RIP sylvia
