Lulu didn't perform well tonight, but perhaps a lot of that was the fault of the choreographer and the rhythm of the music. Can't say I was impressed by the dress design either.

As for those people on the live discussion thread who criticize her looks, she's the only person I've seen who looks better for the work she's had done, and she is amazing for her age; I doubt very much that they will look so good when they are old.

The problem is, we the voters, don't like celebs who don't put the work in. We'll forgive you the mistakes if we think you're trying but if we think you're lazy and trying to coast on your name, we'll bury you.

Well here's hoping anyway! ”

I'm not so sure she isn't trying, I just think she's horribly bad!

I wouldn't bet on that.

She made Kate Garraway, Fiona Phillips and Ann Widdecombe all look like Ginger Rogers!

I feel sorry for Brendan. Can't believe I will ever say that.

I'm just not sure what went wrong. It seems as though neither of them cared all that much about it. Which I'm sure isn't the case. They just laughed it off too easily - espeically Brendan. Normally he'd be so much tougher on his celeb - and she really was bad tonight. She looked tired, and lost.

She could be good if she would only listen to Brendan and do what he said, in a teaching sense - instead of making a mockery of it.”

Spot on TQ.

I think she lost her way early on and it was quite a fast routine, so she couldn't get back into it. Could have been nerves.

She was bad (although I thought Robbie Savage was even worse as he did less actual dancing).

I think Brendan's choreography was a mistake - too much stuff out of hold. He needed a routine consisting of basic steps in which he could keep her close and control her movement. She would still have been bad but perhaps not as bad.

I think she lost her focus. The moment she was 'on', showbiz lights, cue the music etc, on came performer Lulu. To her, music is to sing to, not to dance to.

She needs to focus on the dance steps first and foremost.

I think once she slipped up, she simply couldn't recover it.

Was really, really surprised. But as Tiggywink says, she wasn't concentrating.

How embarrassing for someone who is a perfectionist. She wasn't good - in fact, she was terrible considering she has been rehearsing with one of the best in the country for three weeks and she has cleared her diary to give it "her all". She just jigged around the floor - even I could do that and I can't dance! Craig looked extremely sour after her routine and who, in all honesty, could blame him. She was abysmal.

Maybe Lulu knew she wouldn't be very good, so she wore that purple off-the-shoulder tarty looking dress to draw peoples' eyes away from her feet!!!

Anita looked so elegant and professional compared to Lulu!

But it was very entertaining.....

Great Fun...and Brendan, looked as if he was in his worst nightmare......He was.

My gut feeling is that she thought it was all going to be easy as she can hear music and just hasn't got it! It was telling that on Alan Titchmarch today Brendan said that she was very slow to pick up steps and that finally she seemed to have got it!

I feel for Brendan! Think he really has got his work cut out even getting Lulu to listen to him!

I bet Brendan was happy.

It looked like she couldn't be bothered .

I never thought I would post something on DS saying I felt sorry for Brendan - but I genuinely did. Lulu was atrocious.

There was nothing wrong with the routine, or the music (which was slower than Russell and Flavia's routine). She just wasn't concentrating and then fluffed her way through the entire routine. Not a smart move.

As for her looking better for the work she's had done ... Well, if you want to look like a chipmunk with shiny cheeks and have trout-pout lips - well, sure, that surgery was an outstanding success. Most people, however, would not want to look like that.

And I'd rather look at Anita Dobson, who hasn't had any work done, than someone so uncomfortable with who they are that they went under the surgeon's knife.

She's been using a good few inches of Polyfilla for years, despite having had a facelift and botox.

She may have potential if she learns the reason why she has two ears and only one mouth.

Tess was ever so slightly flustered that she was talking over her cue card performance after the scoring.

Ok not read all the comments but a quick post before I go to bed.

I was in the live audience. I think Lulu was already worried she might have a wardrobe malfunction even before the dance. And she started standing on the steps and grabbed Dave Arch's bottle of water - as if she was totally about to lose it.

She started off time to the music (it was wrong to let her start on her own - Brendan needed to be with her). It was just about ok to about 30 seconds in when they were trying to do some steps of the Natural Top and then Lulu mis stepped and then started looking down and got completely disorientated (I think). She just about managed to keep going but you could tell most of the rest was improvised.

Im no fan of Lulu and she definitely was the worst of the night but at least she finished.

I was feeling sorry for Brendan at the time because obviously their partnership is quite firey... however I don't think the blame should rest totally with Lulu. I don't think the choreography was especially difficult but there was far too much of the dance out of any kind of hold.

I dance CCC a lot and the majority of the "steps" should be made in hold (1 or 2 hand hold) and perhaps this is what Brendan should do.

And as for Lulu concentrating more on singing than dancing, I think she may have been trying to act the dancing and singing (for counting purposes). They weren't dancing together as a team - not sure if the blame shouldnt just rest equally between them. Lulu probably is not listening - but Brendan maybe is not trying. As he pranced around he looked at the audience by me as if to say "wtf is she doing" and behaved as if it was a total joke.

I think the dress was also partly to blame - it was distracting for her even at the initial line up at the start and probably contributed for the melt down. She was also messing with the dress while waiting to be announced - very fidgety!

Unless the choreography for their Foxtrot is much improved and Brendan and Lulu start dancing as a team rather than individuals I cant see her lasting more than a week or two.

One final thing though: Obviously the proper dance was supposedly better because all the judges had to change their marking decision during the dance. I was sitting opposite them and noticed they all had to noticably reach down for their paddle boxes for a different paddle (during the other dances, most of the basic ones (4,5,6,7) were obviously sat on the desk already because I never noticed them reaching down before (or after).

Brendan's choreography was awful, no doubt. Some of the blame must go to him, in fact in my opinion he's as much to blame as Lulu. The cha cha can be danced in hold thoughout a large proportion of the dance. I can't understand Brendan allowing someone with such limited experience to go it alone. The routine wasn't very good whatever the standard of Lulu anyway. Brendan is just too self centred, only thinking of himself. He dances for himself pretty much. The timing also would have more likely have been better in hold also, although there's no denying Lulu was really pitiful in terms of her ability. There's definitely something amiss in their relationship, and i reckon it cuts both ways.

She has potential. I'm also not her biggest fan, but the woman isn't horrible, and I think she can do it and get better!

To be kind to Lulu she must have had some kind of mental block. I can't remember anyone completely forgetting everything she must have been taught over 3 weeks.

What a shocker of a dance! I was quite gobsmacked at just how bad it was.
