Um... I don't think it works like that. Maybe if we still thought of her as Scottish... she's like Barrowman, she doesn't have the accent anymore but puts it on when the notion takes her. Pretty much the quickest way to alienate yourself from Scottish people. Fine if you don't have the accent, but don't pretend.

Anyone else feel the same?”
I'm English but there's a few English contestants I wouldn't vote for even if my life depended on it - so sorry I just don't understand the English/Scottish/Welsh/Irish allegiance.
I've never forgiven Englishman Julian Clary for depriving Welshman Aled Jones of a spot in the last three and I found it hard to forgive Erin for messing up the chances of another Welshman - Colin Jackson.

Yes but its different for you as there is always 11ish English people in these shows cause there are so weighted toward the English.Us Scots got to stick up for our own
Because it's insulting to assume that the main reason to support someone is shared nationality?
I don't think it even registers for most people to be honest.
I've never understood this voting based on nationality. If you aren't going to vote on how the celebs actually perform because nationality predetermines how you vote then why bother to watch the programme?

Michelle McManus,David Sneddon,Lean Jackson,Jonny Gibb,Cameron Stout and Darius Campbell may disagree.

But if just one Scot performed better than 11 English contestants the Scot would get my vote - so I find your attempted rationalisation puzzling.

The English vote would be split whilst the Scottish vote is always lumped on 1 person.Only near the end when there is less English will the Scottish vote weaken.

I don't know who half these people are...
Of the ones I do, isn't it a tad more likely that these people just happen to be Scottish but that wasn't why people voted for them?

So if it is so weighted towards the English, how is there an Australian and two Welsh? Last year had a Welshman, a American, a-whatever-Pamela-was (Aussie? NZ? Slipped my mind). That's not a bad proportion.
Well y'know what, I don't have funds to do a proper survey, so let's just stick to anecdotal evidence.
Me: Scottish
Who I voted for/will vote for:
Jill Halfpenny - English
Zoe Ball - English
Louisa Lytton - English
Alesha Dixon - English
Rachel Stevens - English
Chris Hollins - English
Kara Tointon - English
Holly Valance - Australian
Series 4 - Mark Ramprakash(English)
Series 5 - Gethin Jones (Welsh)
Series 6 - Tom Chambers (English)
Series 7 - Chris Hollins (English)
Series 8 - Didn't vote
Why are the Scots (In general) so possessive abt their heritage? I'll probably get a negative response to my opinion but I don't care. I'm sick of them bringing everything down to England versus Scotland all the time. It's pathetic.
I saw this thread title and I was going to have a little rant-ette about how demeaning it was to anyone to assume they'd be voting on the basis of nationality. Then I saw that the OP is the living embodiment of the stereotypical nationalistic voter.
