I'm gutted at Leona's decision to move her album back would've been a perfect Christmas present!

A pity the new thread has got off to a negative start. Would be good if we could now put the past behind us and just see what happens next.

I have this vision of Leona appearing on XF singing a new track from the album and it went down a storm (like Run) and fans demanding a release of that single (yeah it might be in my dreams, but what a dream).
I think March is the best time to release now, but really would like a single before end of year. Hey Stube, what a great b/day present to have Glassheart out the same day.

I love how she now performs the line "My heart's crippled by the vein that I keep on closing" right before the big notes, it's very dramatic.

Okay I'll still try to post as much as I can. It will be difficult since we might not have much news to work from but we can still discuss our hopes for the next era and the positives of Leona pushing it back to March.

What do people hope Leona will perform on X Factor UK and US - if she still has a slot?

I think she's guaranteed a place on US X Factor even without any new material since she is the only proof of a worldwide superstar coming from XF. She is to X Factor what Kelly Clarkson is to American Idol.

I think she should perform 'Run' on X Factor USA in the hope that it will re-connect the American public with Leona and her insane vocals. Maybe on the finale since that will be when the number of viewers is at its highest but I don't want drama and tension overshadowing her performance.

In terms of UK XF, I think she should be on the finale then. She should duet with a finalist (preferably James or Amelia or maybe even The Keys <3) singing 'Run' or 'Bleeding Love' - as they will have the biggest effect on iTunes plus they are "duet" songs unlike 'Happy' and 'Better In Time' - and then Leona sings 'GlassHeart' as a performing guest to hype up her new era in the New Year.

This would be a perfect plan in my opinion. You're right in that Leona should probably just perform Run on US X Factor, who knows, it could earn it a top 10 positioning over there, plus she would astound American audiences. Then with UK X Factor a BL duet would be incredible and then she could do a Rihanna and come out again to perfom a new track (Trouble/Glassheart) to get people excited for the next era, preferably not in a leopard print bikini though.

Having seen the video from Japan,actually I wouldn't mind if she sang BL. I know it's old, but it would probably do more to remind the US of who Leona is and why they should be interested in her. She's improved so much as a performer so it still shows progression. Ideally, it would be as you say accompanied by something to lead into the new album.

Just a thought about the dress. I know some of you didn't like it, but it's very loose around the rib cage. Could that have been deliberate to allow her to open up her lungs more effectively? Also, the general nature of the shape/fabric seems to be allowing her to move her body very freely. I'm wondering if she is wearing clothes for performance now that give her more comfort to concentrate on performing?

That's what I'm thinking regarding 'Run'. When it was originally released in the States with minor radio play (it was never actually sent to radio, right?) it still went ridiculously high up on iTunes if I remember correctly. With a performance in front of around 12 million viewers, I think 'Run' could definitely shoot up into the iTunes top 20 - especially with British talent and Adele in particular smashing up the charts over there this year.

Oh I wouldn't mind if she did - it would shut up the Boring Brigade. 'GlassHeart' would be the best choice of song to perform since it is also (for the moment at least) the album title and that would be album promotion in itself. Plus GH sounds incredible from that G-A-Y clip!


Well I don't want this thread to become empty and it was more the negative attitude in the last thread that was driving me away rather than the lack of information.

I would be against 'Bleeding Love' on US XF tbh. Not for the reason that it's four years old, but mainly because of the reason you gave for her to sing it. Everybody knows her for BL so if she performed it, it would feed this inaccurate notion that she's a one-hit-wonder over there. If she performed 'Run', it would not only showcase her heavenly vocals best, it would reveal the US public to another song by her and show that she has more than one great song. BL can be heavily included in the VT though.

She has definitely mastered the performance of BL though. I love how she has that one song that is like her child and never leaves her. The likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry don't have that.

I actually didn't mind that dress. It looks like something Rihanna wore during her Rated R era. It's not her best outfit by far but it isn't bad. I think it suits the event and the location.

I hope she doesn't perform Bleeding Love that would just convice people she's a one hit wonder. She needs to move onto the next hits and stop dwelling on the past. If she did it would have to be for about 30 seconds just to remind people of who she is, before moving to the next song

I read in a paper that Cheryl Cole's album should be out early next year too, and is set to "dominate" the charts. I hope they don't clash. Anyways can't wait for Glassheart, and hopefully they have planned something before Christmas to help ease the time

I don't mind much if there is no single before Christmas but if there isn't, I hope they are carefully planning the album campaign instead. It gives them more time this way. The fact that the bosses didn't want to release GlassHeart how it was at least shows that they care about the direction of the album and Leona's career.

Why would Leona would be on X-Factor this year? She's got nothing new to promote on either side of the Atlantic. Wouldn't they give the slot to someone who's got a single/album out at the time? I don't watch XF very often so I might be wrong but I thought that's how the guest performances were allocated.....for promotional reasons. Wouldn't it be the same for the US version too?

I can really see Leona appearing on the finals of US and/or UK X factor singing Run with some of the finalists. I think that would be great, especially for US X factor, because that way she can promote that song without anyone saying why is she singing 3 years old song.

It depends.

If it is a standard results show, the guests are always current stars with a single/album to promote.

If it is the finale, musicians will either be duetting with a finalist or performing their latest single - or both (it's usually both). But in 2009, I remember George Michael duetting with Joe McElderry and I'm pretty sure he had no new material to promote at the time. Same with Christina Aguilera last year, although she promoted some musical she was in.

Due to Leona's close ties with Simon, I'm sure he could get her on both the UK and US XF finale to duet with the finalists and, as Illuzionista correctly said, use that as a reason to perform 'Run' afterwards.

So we have all figured out now if only someone would pay attention to what we say lol

This might be true for the UK so I think we need to be prepared for her not to perform. But in the US she would be there to promote the show itself and its ability to find stars. Just like she has just done in Japan. So it is still possible if not definite.

I think they should still release Trouble in a few weeks and have her perform it on X-Factor, otherwise all of these news articles previewing album tracks/singles will have gone to waste as people will have forgotten about it by March.

Who says you need to have 1 or 2 singles before an album anyway?

As far as I'm concerned she could have Trouble out this year, a smaller single in January, and then Glassheart for when the album launches.

Yeah I think that would be the best way of promoting Leona and her music without any new releases. Maybe she could also mention that a new album will be out in the Spring.

Sports Relief would be a massive promotional platform for her! Do they have a dedicated telethon like Comic Relief though? If they do, hopefully Syco would get her a performing slot. She does have history with the event afterall with 'Better In Time'/'Footprints In The Sand'.


I wouldn't be so sure on a UK XF slot either. But surely she'd be on the US XF? It'd be crazy not to include her. But even if she isn't on it this year, there will always be next year.

I just pray that the album is going to be released in March and that is its final release date.

^^ They did in 2007 when Leona performed BIT/FITS. She also sang FITS on Dancing on Ice that year.

I'm beginning to think the delay is for the best. If the label wanted to bury Leona, they'd risk her underperforming this quarter and just grab what sales they could in the Christmas rush. Also, the problem with that strategy as we saw with Echo can be that the album has no longevity. Also, she would only have c short sales period before Christmas, followed by the January slump.

With a March release and, hopefully, a well timed second single she would be carried through until the summer when (hopefully) she has the Hackney concert and (even more hopefully) other live gigs to keep things afloat.
