yep I have noticed that..said I would never post there again and just had too ..could not help myself

I notice for example some act have no Appreciation thrds..for example olly.. he got such a slagging when he was on x factor..( I am not a fan but..)..JLS no threads about then at all..also becca..does not mean these artist have not been and will not be successful..they only reason I defend matt on the MF is because sometimes the press guage it as the mood of the nation which its not

Did Dermott not mention that RFYL was now available as a single? I am disappointed that with XF exposure he's only sitting at No4, mainly because of the crap DS posters in the circus will throw at him. Having said that, selling albums will be the real measure of his success.

I thought he was nervous on the main show, heard a crack in his voice but overal the staging and performance was good. XtraFactor performance is the real Matt and where he feels at home, seems like a good few people saw that performance too

Oh right, so atm he's released "Run For Your Life", then would that mean "Starlight" would be the next single yeah?

He's stalled at no.4, the top two will be hard to beat.

Matts up to no4 on overall music. So he is still climbing . Hope he keeps this momentum going. Who knows he could even nick the no1 album spot from Noel Gallacher next week. That would shut a few folk up if he could pull that off.

Also remember Matt will have physical cd sales to add to download sales so hopefully a top 3. That would be
nice

It's bestselling music... he's just under James Morrison, Cee Lo Green (who obviously got a boost from the show tonight) and Adele

Well it's the 4th best selling in music as opposed to just pre-orders. So it's fourth against albums that are already out. O think only Adele, James Morrison and cee-lo green are above him.

The fact that Cher and 1D got number 1 when they released (not to mention Olly Murs ) means that a number 3 will not be sufficient to silence those people who consider Matt a flop. I always had a bad feeling about this Gary Barlow song before I even heard it, having heard some of GB's other songs for artists. Surely anyone with ears could have worked out that Matt would be more comfortable with one of his own songs

I think the record company has made the wrong decision with the single. I just hope Matt's forthcoming appearances on TV shows allow him to perform some album tracks in the same vein as tonight on the Xtra Factor.

I think the album should sell well if properly promoted. Most of Matt's target market are not typically single buyers although I know he has some young fans. However, this single is not particularly appealing to the younger market, it's more 'middle-aged'.

If I was watching tonight, objectively, as someone who had 'forgotten' about Matt, I would not be interested in buying the single but would definitely buy his album. So even if the single is considered a flop that won't matter if the album is successful.

Marella I couldn't agree with you more. RFYL simply doesn't move you the way Matt singing his own superior material does. I've downloaded it to be loyal, and because I liked the other 2 preview tracks.
But it makes me feel like gnashing my teeth and pulling my hair out. If Matt had done something like AFN on the main show, I am convinced there would have been an immediate no 1.
I've been wondering why there was the debate about whether Matt was gonna appear on the show or not. I imagine there was some kind of bartering involved - Matt having his band, Matt singing one of his own tracks to go with the Barlow one. (Do guests normally do 2 like that?) I'm just so frustrated with the situation. I don't think anyone watching the main show would be any the wiser about the artist Matt is.
Fingers crossed that sufficient people saw Xtra factor.

Morning AFN was incredible on the Xtra Factor, so much better than RFYL!
Shame it hasnt gone to Number 1, but his album will be the real success

I think XF was the big one, because it's 1.where he got is break and 2.where his biggest haters would be watching. A double edged sword. His biggest chance and his biggest risk all rolled into one. I do believe that most of his sales will be physical cd's so we'll see how it goes this week.

Albums and tours are where the money's at in the music industry - the single's market in comparison is small fry.”

True, I was just thinking I wouldn't be likely to buy any more of his singles as I prefer a full album. The only ones I'd buy would be those that weren't destined for inclusion on any album.

Stacey, welcome There are a lot of YT's from KOKO now that have entire songs on them. Here's a link to my channel - Matt from pre XF to now. My OH videoed most of his KOKO performance. http://www.youtube.com/user/spiralthreads?feature=mhee

To be fair, Matt had the opportunity to mention it and didn't. Just one of those things that got lost in the heat of the moment.

I think his label and marketing people are aware of this, which is why his documentary "Into The Light" is out next Saturday night and repeated next Sunday, to coincide with the album release. Also Matt tweeted about filming for a TV advert for the album - seems like a lot more effort is going into the album promo than for RFYL.

I have said a few times now, RFYL &WWC are the first singles I have bought since I was a teenager. I only ever buy albums these days - as I don't need more than one copy of the same song, whereas teenagers are happy to have the same song 4 times if there are different CD pictures on a selection of covers.
