Will this Tablet suit me?

Archos 101 G8

All I want is to be able to run a few apps (Angry Birds etc.) and browse the Web with Flash with no lockups. I am not a newbie with computers but want some reviews from people that have them

I could get the GTab 10.1 or the iPad or even the Transformer but I have decided not to as non of them have full sized usb ports.

Will the 256mb of RAM make it that unusable. I don't think you can add more RAM as it is soldered.

There's the option of the Hannspad but no camera or GPS is a bad thing.

Been considering for ages

Just found out about the Arnova 10 G2.

No kickstand though...

In fact, The Transformer has Honeycomb and a USB 2.0 port (with the dock).

Oh jeez, freeview_user. How many more threads are you going to create about your potential future tablet purchase?

You've had numerous opinions provided by forum members, but you still continue to deliberate over this. Nothing will ever be perfect and satisy all your needs. If you can't stretch to an iPad, then just settle on one of the dozen or so mid-range or budget ones you've received feedback or tech specs on.

At this rate, you'll still be making your mind up when the Kindle Fire heads this way, probably in 2012 then want a ton of advice on that!

In the nicest possible way, man up, get your card out and just buy something and enjoy it.

If you're on a budget, then I could heartily recommend getting yourself an Advent Vega and then downloading a bespoke rom from the MoDaCo website that makes it run very nicely indeed.

I had a lovely time with my Vega, but unfortunately I sat on it and then broke the capacitive screen connector when replacing the LCD. I bought a Transformer to replace it because I came into cash, but if I hadn't, I'd still be using it quite happily now.

Yeah true, sorry about that. I have decided on the Liberty Tab.

Thanks for all the advice you have given.

No need to apologise.

Glad to see you've finally decided on one and really hope you get the most out of it. I'm more than happy with my Archos 101 G8 tablet and as I'm really not into apps and watching videos etc on a portable device, as a mainly internet surfing device, this is a treat and frees me from my home/office laptop in the back of my lounge.

Downside is that I'm now posting more inane comments on DS!

Hope you have done 'all' of your sums.

GPS, screen quality/resolution , price, connectivity, accessories, sensors, Sim slot.
Some come standard, some don't. And some even have mono speakers!

Ask yourself why you need a USB socket on a tablet first. There is the photo adaptor for the Ipad and I have heard of external hard drives being connected to ipads etc.. It comes down to use and what you expect from it. In my no need for USB on these devices, sync them with main machine with photos or whatever then you can do anything else via WIFI.

Charging an iPod off a tablet seems like a slightly ridiculous idea. They don't tend to have huge batteries, and iirc don't necessarily do a great job of being a USB host, unless its a Windows tablet.
