Another very good 'un!

Karen really is disturbed...one minute the old Karen's back then the next she's slipping back to her do-gooder ways.

Norris, Rita, Rula & her hubby Bernard were great, Norris & Rita are one of the best double acts on the Street. A nice bit of history slung in there too, with references to Len Fairclough. (I think, it may have been Harry Bates).

Norris was great "We have a funny name for our shop too, we spell Kabin with a K!"

Dev & Leanne was a little boring, but of course building up to the Mad Maya stuff.

Roy & Hayley delivered, as usual, but I can't see the restaurant fitting into the Street long-term. It's too much of a specific setting that the majority of the residents will not be eating there very often, so it's use may be limited.

Is this restuarant a wine bar?

I thougth Karen was brilliant again, and also quite liked the scene with her Tracy and Karen near the end of the episode.

Rita, Rula and Norris were fantastic tonight and it was nice to see them leave the street for once. Loved Norris's Kabin with a K line too.

Roy and Hayley were good too but whne Roy starts all this nit picking it feels like its starting to wear thin to me.

Nice in-house use of Duggie Brown in the part of Bernard that . brought back memories of Ivy Tilsley - he's Lynne Perrie's brother, you know.

I was just waiting for someone to mention that!

Please DON"T mention Lynne Perrie! I caught sight of her kissing a male stripper's dong on some trash on Sky One last week and the thought of it makes my stomach churn.

The very mention of her name is enough to bring the memory back and it's not pleasant!!!

indeed.

Karen's breakdown has been amazing in general tho, really well acted by both Suranne and Simon.

Really harrowing stuff, esp when she was breaking down in front of Tracy by the kabin

Even though it was on the telly, my mum and dad kept on talking throughout the first half and I was livid I couldn't hear Steve & Karen talking at the graveside. What did they say. When the adverts came on I shouted at mum and dad saying "Well if someone in work asks me what happened in Corrie last night, I wouldn't have a clue" so I went upstairs on the second half.
Fuming I was - fuming

So that's who he was. I recognised him as someone I've seen before but couldn't get his name or think where I'd seen him before.

Cheers,
Katie.

Apparently he's been in the Street before, as somebody called George Freeman - anybody remember who he was?

No personally, but I think I can guarantee that Benc will have the complete low down

I thought it was great! I kept on screaming at the screen for Karen to slap Tracey! And Karen STILL got the last word! The way Tracey acts you would think Steve fell in love with her at some point! I didn't like Liz always go on at Steve about Amy, but I didn't know that she didn't know that Tracey was after Steve for herself, not just for Amy. Little cow!!!

Anyways....what I didn't like was Roy! Jeez, I can never remember him being like that! Jeez man, I suppose his plates are top notch clean are they?!?

Also, if the restaurant was failing, NO WAY would Ciaron have chucked out Sarah and her family, the only paying customers apart from Roy and Hayley! Why sack Sarah anyways? That didn't make sense!

Yeh the scene with Ciaran chucking everyone out didn't make sense, unless he's got a death wish. He is also a god-awful actor. He can do cutesy Oirish charm, but that's it - anger or sadness just makes him windmill his arms around and go bug-eyed. Cr*p. I do hope we will be seeing less of him soon.

Loved the stuff with Karen and Steve - against my expectations the storyline has actually, so far at least, made sense - and has been beautifully acted by Suranne and Simon - he is one of Corrie's best actors now I think. I hope he gets decent stuff to do when she has left. Suranne looks so beautiful without the makeup too.

The Leanne/Dev stuff is just irritating. Has anyone else noticed they have made her into a young Cilla? Corrie SO doesn't need two Cillas. They are even repeating the 'suing' storyline (Cilla-Rita, Leanne-Dev) - hated that the first time round, so I don't want to see it again with new characters. I know it's part of Maya's revenge, but realistically there is no way Leanne could win a case against him. It would be small potatoes to Maya anyway, she has much grander plans for him.

Suranne without the make-up is even better than Suranne with the make-up. I remember during the Joe Carter stuff, there was one scene where Karen had no make-up on at all and she looked even more stunning. I can't believe that she is leaving, it's such a loss!

I don't think that Leanne actually takes Dev to court in the end, Leanne chickens out after too much pressure from Maya. I can see where you're coming from with the comparason to Cilla, however, even though the idea of suing is the same, I think that's where all likenesses end. I've always got the impression that Leanne has never wanted things to go as far as court, but she is under a lot of pressure from Maya to take things further, which has undoubtedly influenced her.

Keith Duffy is rubbish when Ciaran is given a larger part, his acting is 100% laughable. I can't see the restaurant working - both as a business and as as setting for characters. The place will not be frequented by many Weatherfield residens, and I just can't see it fitting into the Street long-term. It would have been much, much better to have kept the place as a wine bar, providing a more casual atmosphere in which characters could be involved.

It does go to court in the end as Maya persists but then the judge throws the case out as Maya's attacks become personal.

I don't remember too much of the Joe Carter stuff, as I found him so repulsive I could hardly bear to watch him taking her away from lovely Steve But yes she is extraordinarily lovely with minimal makeup, and last night it made such a contrast with Tracy's painted mask.

Yeh I think you're right about Leanne not going through with it, but then again neither did Cilla, she 'dropped the charges' although a bit too late. I just think it's very contrived - Leanne just walked into the shop and started touching him up. That just didn't ring true, given both their circumstances. She even has the ghastly wig and dress sense that Cilla has, along with some of the gurning - a couple of times in scenes she has really reminded me of her. And not in a good way. And the way Dev had a go at her last night - that didn't ring true either, although maybe it's just his acting

If Keith D is just handing out pints in the Rovers with the odd quip, he's perfectly fine, but as you say give him something more important to do and he is completely hopeless. I gather they gave him this storyline in order to persuade him to stay. Why on earth did they WANT him to stay though?? You're right about the restaurant being a tactical mistake - a wine bar would have fitted into Street culture much better. Only Mike goes out to restaurants more than once a year! It also LOOKED much better originally, the new restaurant decor etc is awful, I don't know if that is supposed to reflect Ciaran's general crapness or what.

But will it succeed....maybe the restaurant is the demise of Ciaron....and that awful Penny King!

I love Karen's storyline. Suranne does it really well. She is fantastic and it will be such a loss. Karen was brilliant when she shut up that prize BITCH Tracy > God, I hate her. I can't believe Steve would get back with her after all she's done to him and Karen, who is the real love of his life.

Ciaran is hopeless in such a big storyline. They should send him back to The Rovers. And Penny should leave as she's pointless and annoying.

Does anyone else think Dev and Sunita are in it too much now? I think they should have been given a break after her illness storyline ended and they got together, but the writers are giving them too many storylines at once and to be fair, they're not that interesting. There's only so much Dev you can take. Maya has really faded into the background and only appears occasionally and I hate how they've thrown Leanne into the mix. I liked her when she came back but she's annoying me a bit now.

Norris and Rula are great. I loved the line about the Kabin. He starts to think Rita is jealous because something might be going on between him and Rula and that Rita might secretly fancy him! How long will Rula be around for?

I totally agree with the comments about Ciaron. Duffy is a SHOCKING actor, I cringe whenever he is on screen. Please. Get. Rid. Soon...

I so agree with this Steve; Corrie is full of excellent actors and actresses and putting Keith Duffy next to them simply highlights the fact that he is an appalling actor. Surely the producers have sussed this, if we have, but no, it seems they want him to stay on !

Im gutted that Suranne Jones is leaving, though I think (unlike many soap stars) her career will rise and rise, as she is so obviously talented.

I never thought Id hear myself say that someone was a worse actor than Dev, but Keith Duffy definitely is (just).
