My contract with T-Mobile (HTC Desire) doesn't run out until June next year so by then there will be another generation of phone so I'm not really paying any attention to the Nexus Prime or equivalents.

Thing is, I don't really know which route to take. I am not continuing my contract because T Mobile are a shit company, with their constant illegal changing of contracts and stupid web connection that is capped at 2meg (even WnW+, which I am on with 5gb allowance).

The only company which offers unlimited internet is 3 I think, and they are expensive. There's also Giffgaff, but the O2 signal is shocking in my area and I would need to buy any new phone myself at full price. Hmm, decisions decisions... I'm trying to not think about it until June.

Main difference I can see is that the Titan has a 1.5Ghz processor and a 4.7" screen. However the battery is a 1600mAh although I have no idea what that means in extra minutes ”

AMOLED display means lower power consuption and more vivid colours although lower contrast in sunlight, but then TFT displays have the same problem at some point, too. I saw Samsung Omnia 7 with AMOLED and HTC HD7 with TFT next to each other with the same colour scheme and Omnia looked much much better, I would definitely want AMOLED on my next phone. Carl Zeiss optics, well, there's not much space to put something proper on a mobile phone, so it could be a gimmick. But the specs of that Nokia look good and if it looks nice, too, I am sold on it

I would disagree, it felt no less pocketable to me than my HD7. I agree it was true with the 5" Dell Streak but with the Titan, as they've reduced the bezel size too, it's still very handy.

Cool, thanks for that. Must admit I was sold on the Titan for a while but now... That Nokia looks like a real option now. Let's hope it's a release this quarter.

AMOLED is brighter etc, more saturated colours which are pleasing most of the time, except when you want colour accuracy e.g. on a photo. You also get more colour banding etc on an amoled screen.

But most people agree that an OLED screen is definitely better than a TFT LCD, slightly better than an S-LCD. I'm not sure where it stands relative to an IPS LCD screen.

What I can definitely say though is, reviewers look at different phones all the time. You will spend most of your time looking only at your phone and thus won't really feel the gain or loss as much as you just adapt very quickly.

^^^ I agree, before I saw Omnia, I was very happy with my HTC Trophy, but now I am not I am going to try and play with both Nokia and Titan. You should do the same, I may like the Nokia, you may not.

Couple more high end Android phones due soon:

LG Optimus LTE IPS 1280 x 720 screen

HTC Vigor

Sharp Aquos 102SH

All have similar specs to the Nexus Prime.

The best screens available are super AMOLED plus screens. These are the best screen on the market bar none. I think the Samsung Galaxy tab 7.7 has this type of screen.

That HTC's rear looks like a hot water bottle to me.

None have Ice Cream Sandwich though.

I have been using the original WP7 since October 2010 and Mango beta since July and now I have the final version on my normal and developer phone. The first version was very spartan feature-wise, but that changed with Mango. I find it fast, IE9 browser is very fast compared with other mobile browsers I used. There's still not that many apps compared with iOS or Android, but I have all I need. Which is a couple of games, Amazon Kindle app (just in case I forget my Kindle at home) and a few more. With the new HW tethering will be possible (if enabled by mobile operator). And there are a lot of nice features, like power saving mode, linked email accounts (folders), Office, etc. I am happy with it, but then I do not do a lot with it.

ETA: tiles are nice, I wrote app that I use as a shopping list, the contents of the list is in a tile, but the app does not have to run to have it displayed. Contacts/People are nice, there's integration with Twitter, Facebook from the People hub.

Looks good if these specs are correct.

Nokia Ace : 4.3-inch Touchscreen Windows Smartphone with 1.4GHz Processor

Not long now until Nokia will confirm what is coming from then and when and how much.

The HTC Sensation XL is looking interesting too although I would prefer it in black, it has DLNA though which is a bonus if it works. Hoping the Nexus also has this but the current leaked specs don't mention it.

I made comment in the SGS2 thread, but would anyone consider the forthcoming Samsung Wave 3?

It's going to feature the latest version of Samsung's proprietary Bada OS, which has undergone a significant overhaul since v1.0. It acts very much like Android in terms of screen gestures, widget placements etc.

As to hardware, though it will be single core, will have a 1.4ghz processor, SuperAmoled 4" screen, 5mp camera and HD recording. It looks solid and has a premium finish, much like the Wave 1 that I still have. Bada is very stable and on my current Wave, very fast and responsive.

My heart had been set on the SGS2 for awhile but after grumblings about its capability in playing mp3s, plus the battery life issue, overheating etc I'm being swayed to the Wave 3. I'm not really into apps and on reflection, a 4.3" screen on the (expensive) SGS2 would worry me as I tend to chuck phones in a backpack when cycling / out and about.

If the Wave 3 comes under say, £350 SIM free, I will go for it.

Am I nuts / mad to go with Bada and this phone?

SGS2 looks the Smartphone to go for as it's T3's mobile of the year. It beat the Apple iPhone 4!

It's very good and will probably be very much better once it is updated with Ice Cream Sandwitch the new mobile OS version of Android.

SGS3 looks interesting with a 1.8Ghz dual core CPU and 12MP camera but it's a 2012 product and like Apple Samsung will be keeping the Galaxy S and SGS2 in production to form a range of devices, all of which will benefit from the ICS Android update.

I'd have no hesitation about the SGS2.

The HTC Sensation XL (aka HTC Runnymede) is basically HTC Titan on Android. Specs are virtually the same.

I currently own a Nokia and for me it's between HTC Sensation XE and Samsung Nexus Prime. Not interested in Galaxy S2 or iPhone 4S.

is it really? I did like the HTC Titan when I had a play at the weekend, especially the size but Windows 7 would put me off (until it's more proven and has more apps), think I am going for the Prime though unless the leaked specs are wrong and it's not as impressive as it currently sounds. I am presuming it's out in November on contract?
