3G Symbol on iPhone Home Screen
Just lately the 3G symbol is constantly there at the top of the homescreen next to my battery life when I'm away from home.
ETA: Can anyone let me know how to get rid of it as it wasnt there before and now its running the battery right down every day ![]() Thanks

However if you wish to disable it go to Settings - General - Network - Enable 3G OFF. |

Thanks - I just remembered I clicked Enable 3G a few weeks ago, hence the battery running down too quickly!
![]() My phone comfortably lasts all day with 3G on and heavy use. |

You must have an app running that is sending location infoamtion constantly and therefore reducing your battery life.
If you double click the home button you will see at the bottom of the screen a scrollable (right to left) list of all your open apps. Close every single one of them down (keep toughing one of the apps until it starts wobbling, then press the red circle) and see how well your battery fairs after that. You can also go into the setings and turn off location features for each app that uses it. You might want to have it running in things like Facebook and photos, but not in other apps that you didn't realise was using it. It's the poorer and lower quality apps that will tend to run this feature inefficiently causing battery drain, and as I said, you may not even realise you have an app that does it. |

If you want to use the net on your iPhone while out n about keep the 3g on. It doesnt use that much resources, and you net will be considerable faster.

I find with 3G on, my iPhone 4 comfortably lasts the day.
With it off, it will comfortably last 2 or 3 |
