Which ABBA studio albums should I own?
Tiddles Galore

Having only got the GOLD Greatest hits album, and therefore only knowing the big singles, it got me wondering whether I'm missing out on some unheard gems that never got released from studio albums.

Therefore, just wanted to know which of their albums should I start off with, and which hidden gems I should pay particular attention to.

Thanks in advance

i would suggest `more abba gold` if someone wanted to get another collection with little of each era. although, all their studio albums from `arrival` onwards are very good.

The Visitors is their best album in my opinion, although I would agree with a previous poster who said any album from 'Arrival' and onwards.

The Visitors is superb, but a very sad album to listen to. And if the last two songs don't make you cry, you've clearly got not soul

I like Abba Arrival. It reflects their fun and happy side. Always liked the weird folk like instrumental at the end as well. Best track is My Love, My Life. The album always felt desperately European to me and that's also why a like it as well. Felt so unlike other albums at the time. I still get a thrill when I hear the opening bars to When I Kissed the Teacher.

The Visitors falls short of perfection due to the inclusion of Two For The Price Of One. The b-side from those sessions, Should I Laugh Or Cry, fits perfectly at that point in the album and would have made it a complete masterpiece.

Well it's gotta be 'Gold' & More ABBA Gold'

Two For The Price of One just happens to be my favourite song on the album - ABBA making a song all about classified ad sex, who'd have thought it.

Super Trouper is my favourite but all the ones mentioned in the thread are great.

I own that CD as well. It's really good. Super Trouper is also a good album.

It was included to "lighten the mood". It is the mid way, fun track between:

I Let The Music Speak and One of Us and Slipping Through My Fingers and Like An Angel Passing Through My Room. I think it fits perfectly.

Incidentally, Madonna does a superb version of Like An Angel, well worth listening to on YouTube.

You could buy all 8 of their Studio Albums - plus a 9th CD of non-LP Singles,
& 'B' Sides, in this 9 CD Box Set ' The Albums' - that was released in 2008.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Albums-Abba/dp/B001F9Y2CM

Or, you could buy the 'Deluxe' versions, of their Studio Albums, from
'Arrival' to 'Super Trouper'. You get Bonus Tracks with them, plus a CD
with ABBA Video Clips, from around the World - of them singing Songs from
that Album.

'The 'Deluxe' version of 'The Visitors', is due in 2012.

It is hoped that the original - longer - version of 'When All Is Said & Done'
is included in the 'Deluxe' version. It was less than 3.20 long on the 1981 Album.
The original version is just under 4 Minutes long.

Afew people seem to have a problem with this song, but, its an interesting topic covered, and the chorus is fantastic. Must say though, Two For The Price Of One together with the title track The Visitors are my fav tracks from this album -

The Visitors
Voulez Vouz
Super Trouper

This is a good one, but to be honest it might just be too similar to 'Gold' & 'More Gold', but it seems to be in chronological order.
