Well most phones have a short life span now. Even the HTC devices etc. So you will always run the risk of another phone coming out months after you sign a contract.

What makes you think it will out next summer it could be another year or more away.Im off to an Android handset Samsung S3 perhaps or HTC Sensation XE.

Seems like a good upgrade.

Antenne issue fixed for those who dont use the bumper, Apple A5 and increased storage. Pretty much what i expected, like what the 3GS was to the 3G.

To think i've been holding off on my upgrade for what is basically an oil change! I'll be keeping hold of my lovely 3Gs.

Feb 2013 perhaps? Don't hold your breath.

Leaving it till January/February would seem too blatant in iPad marketing.

There could certainly be something dramatically new about it so as to cause the delay.

On a brighter note the price of the 3GS and 4G is bound to drop now so they may get more customers in the low to mid market range now.

£429 for a iPhone 4. £499 for iPhone 4S.

How does it work if I want to buy one at an Apple Store? Do I need to pre-order or do I just show up on the 14th?

I wouldn't be buying one if I had an iPhone 4, I have a 3GS so it's update time.

Something like this:

Just something NEW really. I know the hardware has been upgraded but it's as if they're refining what worked a few years ago and aren't coming up with new ideas.

Apple share price looks to be down 4%. Not, on the face of it, a dramatic dip, but it amounts to around $12 billion drop!!

In what regard? How does this benefit the S2? How would an average end user know the difference?

Are there any apps that have been genuinely optimised to take full advantage of the S2's hardware?

What is the point in keeping the iphone 4 on sale why not just replace it ?

oh come now. The ONLY difference between the 4 and 4s is specs so you can't really argue they don't matter without dismissing Apple's latest toy.

edit: oh and Galaxy S2 has 2GB.

I know exactly what you mean. The weird thing is - and I realise this might sound odd - I was pretty much ready to buy the iPhone 5 no matter what it looked like, unless of course it was really hideous. I wasn't expecting anything particularly radical - just bigger screen, thinner etc. - but the spec bump to the iPhone 4 is just underwhelming. They can show off Siri and Infinity Blade as much as they want, but it still looks like an iPhone 4.

What a disappointment... all those rumours, all the gossip .. and there's no mention of the iPAD 3 !!!

Right I think I'll go for the Blackberry playbook now.. waited long enough for IPAD 3.

Looks like someone's gonna get a slap, the page is "Access Denied" again while they fix it.

If they had put a bigger screen in it would beat sliced bread.
Most apps are piffling so the 512MB RAM is fine.
Is that improved camera lens bought off Sony?

Obviously it is harder to get exited with a new fangle dangle Android phone released almost every single week.
