Gary Moore on 'Top Of The Pops'?

A question for you that I have never been able to find the answer to.

In 1987 I was really getting into Gary Moore's music and hoped that 'Over The Hills And Far Away' would appear on TOTP. It started at 7.00pm but despite running back from my Gran's (where I had to finish my tea before leaving) I did not get home until 7.04. This was in January 1987.

Hot Chocolate was on I think by the time the TV had warmed up and between the featured acts I heard Over The Hills playing (which usually meant that it was featured first).

So, did Gary appear on that show with Over The Hills And Far Away? Please help put a nagging question to bed!

Cheers.

I am a massive Gary Moore fan but cant recall him ever doing that song on TOTP.
I have checked wikipedia to make sure and there is no TOTP entry for that, the only one I can see is out in the fields with phil. Must be very hard for a guitarist of garys talent to have to air play guitar on TOTP. , he does a good job of it though.

RIP both you guys.

BTW have you got garys new Blu Ray/DVD thats just come out the other week. His last live performance before his death.

Thanks GL - and that DVD is on my birthday list.

I am glad that perhaps he was not on so I knew that I did not miss him. TOTP usually played a track when it reached No 20 or higher - and Over the Hills reached 20 so I was always wondering.

Off topic but Is there an episode list to TOTP so you can see who appeared eack week?

The only thing I can find is what essexpete linked to above, think thats the best you are going to get.

Essexpete I can also recall gary doing empty rooms on TOTP but sadly no vids of it I can find.

But just as a reminder of what a talent the world of music has lost here is his guitar solo from empty rooms played live many years ago and you see Gary playing a fender strat which was pretty rare as he was really a les paul fan. Turn the volume up shut your eyes and let this wash over you.

RIP Gary

Hot Chocolate were singing You Sexy Thing - and the reason I remember is because I was worried I had missed Gary. I have never liked Hot Chocolate since.
