Thought I was being really clever by buying a AV modulator to connect my spare DVD player to my very old 'no scart' portable tv. I can get a good picture but the sound is terrible - completely indistinguishable. The scart lead I have connecting the DVD player to the AV modulator is just a bog standard one and not a gold plated one, but does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Bought one from maplins and it works great for me. If it's from them have you tried turning the black knob on the front of the box that helped me.....

Sorry - just realised it is a RF Modulator - not sure what the difference is, if any.

Black knob is I think (not looked at the box in a while) is for fine tuning/picture quality. Yes I have an RF modulator (I think it is the same thing in all but name).

Make sure that your DVD player is set to two channel analogue and not Dolby 5.1...
