I recently purchased a Foxsat HDR and set it up to work with multi satellites (Astra 1 and Astra 2) by following this guide: http://foxsat-hdr.wikispaces.com/DiSEqC

The setup worked fine, detected all the stations OK, although it is a little cumbersome to navigate through the channels :/

The issue is when the box is powered off - it loses all the searched stations and the stations on Astra 1 are not available. I am guessing this is because Astra 1 is on DISEQC B and it is defaulting to A.

Other than having to go through the search and save stations process each time the box is powered on, am I missing something as to why the stations are not being saved?

Also is it possible to add favourites when using multi satellites? I'm sure I could add favourites before I switched to multi sat mode but now it doesn't seem possible.

I have two Diseqc switches. One for each port on the HDR. Both switches are connected to the same four quad LNBs.

As it happens I have Freesat (28.2 & 28.5) on Diseqc A. (The switches default to the Diseqc A port.)

I am not a fan of the HDR but, this combination appears to work fine. I have had it for nearly 3 years now!

Reclassifying the Non Freesat channels as Freesat also appears to work OK with the latest Bundle.

Have you somehow managed to wipe your Freesat settings, as I've got the same problem on my Foxsat-HD, as I think it is a bit too risky messing around with Disecqc on my HDR as it's got alot of scheduled recordings setup on it.

Thanks for the replies - I think I've figured it out. When the unit is powered off and back on it defaults into freesat mode, so this has to be changed back to non-freesat mode.

So the whole procedure for when wanting to watch a channel on DISEQC port B is to switch the unit on - it comes on for ~30 seconds, switches off. Then switch it on via the remote, then go to the menu and change the mode to non-free sat, then exit and select the station.

Is there a setting to make it stay in the mode it was in when it was switched off?

The current procedure is not very technophobe-girlfriend-proof, and we haven't even started to investigate the PVR functions yet :/

Mine defaults on power up to the last mode used unless left in non-freesat and a freesat recording becomes due. The box then reverts to Freesat mode (15 mins before if AR or Series) and the next time you boot it's still in Freesat mode.

Pretty sure yours will be the same as entering non-freesat and rebooting is the only way to turn off encrytion recording on the HD channels.

1 wod of caution, when using the HDR in non-Freesat mode, if you go into non-freesat mod just before a scheduled freesat recording then the recording will fail, so I'm using my spare Foxsat-HD for non-freesat mode and the HDR for freesat mode as it won't mess up scheduled recordings that way and I'm hoping to add Freesat mode back via DISEQC for the bedroom at some point in the future.

When you say 'Power Off' do you mean physically switching the unit off at the back i.e. not just on stand-by? If the unit is in Non-Freesat mode and the unit is put in-/out-of standby mode it reverts to Non-Freesat mode on start-up (except as in Graham's and Roland's comments). If you switch the unit off at the back it starts-up by default in Freesat mode. The Humax uses very little power in standby mode (<1 watt) so I don't think you have to concern yourself about leaving it on overnight - also Humax/Freesat housekeeping is performed during the night and it has to be in in stand-by mode for this to be carried out.
There is no 'Favourite' list option in Non-Freesat mode but you could move all your most-watched channels up to the top of the list (or 'down' to the bottom - depending how you think of it) and put the rest in some sort of order of preference. Makes retrieval that bit quicker. And as far as the cumbersome problem of wading through the non-Freesat channel list is concerned, in edit mode there are tick boxes on the left-hand side which allow you to delete/move whole groups/blocks of channels in one go. Be careful with the red delete button though as there is no 'are you sure?' warning, deleted is deleted.

The swich to freesat for a sceduled record depends if you have padding or not - 15 mins without else just before the padding setting.

Standby is fine.
