1. No Swappable Battery
2. No Memory Card Slot
3. Buying iPhones Encourages The Walled-Garden Business Model
4. Not Actually That Great As A Phone
5. Scarcely Marks You Out As One Of The Cognoscenti
6. Stephen Fry Likes It
7. Very, Very Expensive For What It Is
8. Antenna is Badly Designed
9. You Don't Get Much Screen Considering How Big It Is
10. If You Must Buy One, For Pity's Sake Not Now

Article and reasoning here:
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/10...y_an_iphone_5/

i'm inclined to agree with a lot of it. the no memory card slot really is a kick to the nuts. it means you can't spend a tenner on a 16GB sd card when your storage requirements increase, but have to spend and extra hundred quid when you buy the phone.

So you're not gonna buy one then?

In light of the damning evidence above, I'm still gonna get one. I like to choose what I buy from my own opinions as oppose to those from the register LOL

...not to get involved year in year out in the same tedious discussions.

1. It's tedious.

Actually, that's enough for me...

Agree!

Also no one knows anything about it... to say your not getting a device that may or may not come out at 6pm is crazy, Many rumours are saying that we wont see the iPhone 5 till next year.

Now, as much as i dislike apple as a company, no one knows for sure what on earth the iphone 5 will even look like so that article is just stupid.

Anyway, no where does it say or been announced there will be an iphone 5. So far all evidence points to an iphone 4S.

1. Nexus Prime.

That's the one and only reason.

I'm sure you could draw up a similarly fatuous list for every phone on the market.

It's a wierd thing the iPhone hate. Never really cared, I like my phones and at the moment have an iphone 4. Befroe that I had a Blackberry Bold, before that a Blackberry Storm and so on. Before that a whole raft of Nokias, somewhere along the line I had a samsung.

They all have glitches and problems, the iphone for me is ridiculously simple to use, but it also frustrates me at times when I want to do something find I cant. This is the same with any phone you can name.

There is a whole industry aimed at pushing negative stuff at anything that is considerd popular. We all like different things, I bet if Android becomes the must have device and the phone I hear so much about the Nexus Prime becomes the phoen of the moment. A whole raft of people will be telling me why I must not like it.

Funny old world.

3. Buying iPhones Encourages The Walled-Garden Business Model
4. Not Actually That Great As A Phone
5. Scarcely Marks You Out As One Of The Cognoscenti
6. Stephen Fry Likes It
7. Very, Very Expensive For What It Is
8. Antenna is Badly Designed
9. You Don't Get Much Screen Considering How Big It Is
10. If You Must Buy One, For Pity's Sake Not Now

Ok lets address these. I've had the original iphone now for 4 years and it's still doing well:

1. Battery is covered by Apple warranty and in most cases is better than the alternatives. Therefore have no need to swap it or carry backups
2. The memory card option is a bit of a hindrance, but I'm yet to run out of 8GB of memory in 4 years.
3. If the 'walled-garden' produces a quality flower, then let them build walls.
4. I rarely use my phone as a phone anymore and if I do, it's perfectly adequate. The iphon reduces the need to use your phone as a phone.
5. I don't care about my image, I just want the best product for my needs. I've used todays HTC offerings and they still don't compare to my 4 year old iphone. They're powerful but lack the infrastructure needed to deliver a feel of quality.
6. I'm not a homophobe.
7. I bought my iphone for £379 and it's lasted me 4 years. That's £94.75 a year. Which I'd say is value for money so far, and lets not forget, it's still running pretty smoothly and looking pretty new, even after a few drops.
8. I agree the iphone4 had a badly designed antenna, but the other models seem to be pretty much similar to that of other smart phones. It's not something I can honestly say I've ever really experienced on this phone.
9. This is really the same question as 7. You don't get much of a screen, but surely that's the point of what is essentially a micro-mobile-computer. I was in the market for a Desire HD a few years ago, until I used one and it was just way too big. I want my phone to be a compact device. If I wanted tablet I'd buy a tablet.
10.So really, this is 8 reasons for not buying one. If you must complain, for pity's sake come up with some good ones and learn to count.

Meh, i think its more to do with the fact the iphone 4 for example is hideously overpriced.

Also according to reports, Android already is the must have thing. Apple really need to pull something out the hat tonight to change that.

Sent from my Galaxy S2.............

I think that this video says it all. And even though the Evo 4G is practically a relic in the Android world, it still owns the iPhone...

Hmmmm...

1. Battery is covered by Apple warranty and in most cases is better than the alternatives. Therefore have no need to swap it or carry backups
And after the warranty runs out? Having owned an iphone 3gs and 4 i can tell you now, the battery last no longer than its counterparts. In fact it lasts less time than my old Desire HD and now Galaxy S2.

2. The memory card option is a bit of a hindrance, but I'm yet to run out of 8GB of memory in 4 years.
What?!! A hinderence? How on earth is that true. Put it in, never take it out. Explain please.

3. If the 'walled-garden' produces a quality flower, then let them build walls.
Yet it hasnt.

4. I rarely use my phone as a phone anymore and if I do, it's perfectly adequate. The iphon reduces the need to use your phone as a phone.
Again, what?! How can an iphone reduce the need to use a phone as a phone if i need to make a call well what else am i gonna do it with?

5. I don't care about my image, I just want the best product for my needs. I've used todays HTC offerings and they still don't compare to my 4 year old iphone. They're powerful but lack the infrastructure needed to deliver a feel of quality.
Nonsense. Sense is pretty much regarded as one of the best Android add on's ever.

Anyway, the original 2g iphone was shocking. Lacked everything a standard £30 phone had. Screen was awful as well. However, it did change the way touchscreen phones were made.

6. I'm not a homophobe.
Agreed.

7. I bought my iphone for £379 and it's lasted me 4 years. That's £94.75 a year. Which I'd say is value for money so far, and lets not forget, it's still running pretty smoothly and looking pretty new, even after a few drops.
Yes it is good value for money however, i know people who still have their 2gs and they dont look good.

8. I agree the iphone4 had a badly designed antenna, but the other models seem to be pretty much similar to that of other smart phones. It's not something I can honestly say I've ever really experienced on this phone.
The design of the iphone 4 antenna was shocking and even an amateur would have known this issue would happen. Not sure what you mean about other smartphones as they have never had this issue.

When has a smartphone ever been known as a micro mobile computer? They are known as mobile computers and the screen size will go up to what fits in the pocket comfortably. My Galaxy S2 fits perfectly in my pocket.

10.So really, this is 8 reasons for not buying one. If you must complain, for pity's sake come up with some good ones and learn to count.
I would say 9

The voice control thing i feel is gonna be the complete event with the iphone 4S as a sideline. I am looking forward to the event however to see what happens.

Try and find a Bluetooth radio where the samsung s2 pairs to and works fully , the answer is non because they use bluetooth 3.0 while everyone else is only up to 2.2, saying that thou I hope apple still use 2.2 or below.

My 2 year old laptop. My 3 year old bluetooth headset. I haven't had any issues connecting to bluetooth devices.....

Also, 3.0 is backward compatible.

What is this? I have an SGS2 and everything works...3.0 is backwards compatible for legacy devices so even my netbook and other older Bluetooth devices work with it...

Btw lol at Apple finally discovering real voice control. The Android one is second to none however, it's really accurate now.

Yes of course, the only reason anyone may not be a fan of Stephen Fry is because they're 'gayist'....
