Oh ffs go to school! Do you REALLY think that because it is music that YOU clearly don't have much time for, there shouldn't be a show and those that DO like it shouldn't have the opportunity to see it?
Your comment is one of the most pathetic and childish I have seen for a while and that is saying something when I view the music, x factor and big brother sections regularly

its music of black origin awards, not a music award show for black people only.

Adele, Jessie J, N dubz and katy b are all nominated for awards

She could attend but she's cancelled as US tour so singing is very much a no no.

Today at 10pm.

I must say though, the Mobo's have been getting worse each year even though i generally like the awards show.

No time for them. Music should not be catagorised by colour. Music should TRANSCEND colour.

I used to like the MOBOs in the late 90's / early 00's because they often recognised artists who were successfull on the underground scene as well as the commercial ones.

From what I've seen over the last few years it basically catered to the commerical acts now. I still can't believe they gave JLS 2 awards for 'beat again', only to have them blatantly lip-sync the whole track onstage.

The last straw for me though, was when they gave Lil Kim a 'Fashion Icon' award. I like Lil Kim as a rapper but, really?

It's so stupid when people say 'why isn't there a show where they celebrate 'white music'', it's no different to shows like the Country Music Award show is the US. It's just celebrating a certain STYLE of music. Adele, Jessie J and other white artists are/have been nominated before so what's the problem?

I remember 3/4 years ago when Sinitta annoyed fans over claiming she discovered Leona while presenting the MOBO's.

I hope Emeli sande is there doing a performance. Heaven could do with a boost. It dropped quite quickly despite making number 2.

The trouble is that they often contradict this with the awards they give out. I mentioned JLS getting awards for 'beat again' in an earlier post - this is a straight up pop song but it still got nominated because the members of JLS are black/mixed race. They used to do the same with singers like Heather Small from M People too.

There are many the BRITS, the Ivor Novello, the NME Awards, the Kerrang awards, Mercury Prize award where very few Urban or black acts have received awards over the years. The MOBOS recognises all artists whose music has its roots in Black music so over the years white acts from Amy Winehouse, The Streets, Eninem and Plan B have won awards.
Just as importantly it gives awards to acts that have no mainstream recognition in categories like Reggae, Gospel, Jazz, African and Soul.

"Black" is not a style of music.

What upsets me, is the lack of successful uk black and mixed race female. But not being racist, but as soon as white girl comes on scene singing soul, rnb, its getting praised and noticed!
