How much do other phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S2, cost unlocked and SIM-free? Just for comparison purposes.

Apple prices:
16GB £499 32GB £599 64GB £699 £699 for a phone is some price really. I'm sure I paid a lot less for the original iPhone. Quote:
That does seem to be a particularly poor contract. The price quoted must be for the 64GB version.
I've just had a quick look on the Apple website, and whilst the 4S looks like it's more expensive than the 4 and 3GS were at launch, the prices are for an unlocked, SIM-free phone, whereas they were previously for PAYG. The SIM free unlocked price of the 4S is exactly the same as that of the 4. Yet... the contract prices are worse

Apple are quite simply going downhill from here. I mean, this announcement about the "new" iPhone was far from impressive, and now with Steve Jobs going, the company has been thrown into turmoil. The ironic thing is that the 4s will sell in huge numbers because of Apple's loyal fan base and people missing Steve, but after that, other technology giants will take over Apple's lead. They are going to have to think of something big within the next year to reamin the most expensive gadget firm in existence.
Apple will realise that the 4S just won't be strong enough to compete against Ice Cream Sandwich devices...The Galaxy S2 is already proving that people are turning to different platforms for better products, and this trend will undoubtedly continue... |
