How much do other phones, like the Samsung Galaxy S2, cost unlocked and SIM-free? Just for comparison purposes.

£699 for a phone is some price really. I'm sure I paid a lot less for the original iPhone.”

I've just had a quick look on the Apple website, and whilst the 4S looks like it's more expensive than the 4 and 3GS were at launch, the prices are for an unlocked, SIM-free phone, whereas they were previously for PAYG.”

The SIM free unlocked price of the 4S is exactly the same as that of the 4.

Yet... the contract prices are worse

Apple will find it very hard to compete with the iPhone 4S. Android 4.0 is actually superior to iOS, not just in terms of features, but now looks wise as well...

Apple will realise that the 4S just won't be strong enough to compete against Ice Cream Sandwich devices...The Galaxy S2 is already proving that people are turning to different platforms for better products, and this trend will undoubtedly continue...
