$199 + contract vs £499 ($770 dollars) + contract is a joke

I was tempted to get one but the price difference is just a piss take.

£499 is the sim free price you wont be paying that on contract.

$199 plus the price of a contract or included?

remember, contracts in the us are different from here, I think you pay for incoming calls too

With respect, I think you've misunderstood -

the point made was that the $199 price was WITH a 2 year contract, the UK price was without a contract. You really can't compare the prices on that basis.

The UK line providers will almost certainly do similar deals with 2 year contracts.

You can see in that article the likely prices here with a 2 year contract.

O2 haven't released their pricing yet from what I can see, but it'll probably be similar to the iPhone 4 plans.

Any idea how much it will cost on 'pay & go'?

Just upgrade OS in current iPhone 4.

Unsure how many people are actually in need of more than 64GB on a phone (I use about 20/32 of mine) but it would have been a nice feature none the less,

I wouldnt completely disagree with you Gormond, its a fair point, but at the same time I have to confess I use my camera rarely on my device, but have 50gigs of documents and music on my device (n900), so I think its horses for courses, and despite the rare use of my camera I wouldnt want to be without it.

I just think when £100 quid phones have got expansion slots its poor show of Apple not to include it for the customer.

Even though I personally would never use it, it would be a nice addition especially to the iPad where I could see myself expanding the storage in the future.

looking at the pricing today it seems the 32GB is about $100 (and £100) more than the 16GB and similarly the 64GB the same amount more than the 32.

which is a hell of a lot when you keep in mind that flash memory is about $1/GB now. what's more in addition to the price you obviously can't upgrade it. you have to decide when you first buy the phone. and whilst it's bad in a phone, it's criminal in a pad.

Spot on, my thoughts exactly. Its *from* £499 for the 16gb which I am guessing will mean something like £599 for the 32gb (the price it was last year) and £699 for the 64gb.
