If u read this you will notice she still may not have a number 1!
It's because she's always releasing her albums in the busy weeks to get better sales, so her competition is always stiff.Also, in the US, she's not taken very seriously and I can't disagree with their attitude towards her

For some reason Rihanna hasnt connected as well to the USA as she has here, in the UK her albums sell literally millions, she is extremely popular, maybe its because not as many people in the states like her, she's definitely more of a singles artist there than she is here, saying that her singles chart very highly here also.

Of course that's admirable, but you're talking about her as if she's a relatively new artist on the rise...rather than a massive popstar who's been around for like 6 years, and may as well be American because so many assume she is anyway.

She is 6 years in the game and still relatively new. That she is already a successful international pop star this early in the game is also nothing to be sniffed at.
If many presume Rihanna to be American then that is down to their own ignorance. Rihanna is the youth cultural ambassador of Barbados and travels on a diplomatic passport. That plus she still has her heavy Bajan accent. Nothing about her is American other than the fact that she is based in LA although she is hardly ever there. Also part of Rihanna's worldwide appeal (i.e 'Little miss Sunshine', 'Music of the Sun etc) is that she is from Barbados and that sets her apart from the usual Black female singer who is most times from the US who either grew up in Church singing r&b

The fact remains that she is an international POP star with no.1 albums in countries foreign to hers. Fact also remains that even though some US artists have managed to get the coveted no.1 album spot on the Billboard 200 yet they still have not managed to move as much units in their own country than the little girl from the Islands.
She was too small to go there with her first album, and since then it has been constant overexposure. She has great singles success, but people just don't care when she releases an album. She sells on a big single, that's why her album sales are slow but steady.

April or May..yeah that is a huge difference in time.
The Itunes banner for the US was put up after the song was released and that alone does not constitute the 'heavy promotion' in the US people keep going on about.

1)I don't get the "May" point.But she was touring and her era is over.Name one pop artist that promotes heavily after the 4th single??Most people don't even have a 5th single, let alone promote it.She had all that during the beginning of her era and that's how it goes for everyone.Nobody gets all that promo for a 5th single and again, she was TOURING.

But Kylie never made it in the US.She wasn't even promoted there and her albums never sold bar 3-4 exceptions.She was never launched as a US act.Rihanna is not the same case.

I know she is on tour but I was responding to someone who stated that Rihanna was heavily promoted in the US when that has never been the case.

Kylie's album has gone platinum in the US and she has a top 5 album. Like Rihanna she is also a non US artist.

Of course I understood the subject and that's why I gave a very logical answer in my initial post.The thing that I don't get is why you keep making excuses about something that really isn't that much of a big deal, but hey, I'll probably not get it, so each to their own
