Bruce's face looked so empty at times towards the end of last Saturday's show, I'm wondering if he is actually going to make it to the end of this series. He really should pack it in after that for his own health's sake. Off to an island in the sun with Winelia, and to hell with TV cameras, judges, dancers etc. For his own health's sake, not for the audience, not for the loyal fan viewers, he should retire while his health is still good.”

Piffle post of the day. Congratulations.

Yes he can sing, yes he can dance, yes he can play the piano, but why would the producer want him to do any of that on this show? (although I seem to remember a rare occasion when he sang with the band).

He's doing the job he's been asked to do. I think he does it well, we're used to him. We know what to expect, anyone new would want to stamp their personality on it and it ain't about them.”

Spot on. Strictly needs Bruce.

His job is to present the show.

And I think he does what he does best - providing the presenting skills for old-fashioned Saturday night entertainment.

I always think he is at his best when things actually go wrong - he deals with those things brilliantly I think.”

Too right tango queen. There are far more pro-Brucie posts this year I am delighted to see.

Many thanks!
There's normally more vitriol in my tank when I expostulate about presence of geriatric out-dated Bruce in amongst the gaudy cast of Strictly, but am told to mind my manners.

However, such politeness is truly fleeting. I agree with the OP.
(Dashes for exit. It's supper time

Certainly Judi Dench does not spring to mind as a presenter (apart from awards ceremonies), and Joan Bakewell is a serious art/religious presenter, but hardly someone that would come to mind to present an entertainment programme, and not one that would be likely to come up with a funny quip or two.

As for Joan Collins, the same entertainment issue arises, I am not aware that she has presented live programmes, and would she do it anyway without becoming the star of the show and centre of attention. As for being talented ..... well, I am not convinced.”

Who said anything about PRESENTING? All I said was APPEARING on prime time TV.

Whoa ....

We were talking about Brucie presenting (and why he is still there at his age), and that he is 83. In the context of the exchange, you said that there were women as old if not older than him that should appear, and I asked what relevance that had to Brucie & SCD (as it now turns out, no relevance at all ). So it was a natural response to think that you were talking about these women taking over from him. My mistake.

Having got that cleared up, how would you suggest that those four women could be utilised on SCD?

Or are you now talking generically across any programme (which of course is a subject for another forum)?
