Personally i would have expected him to sing these praises about Gaga. Not because am a fan of hers, but Gaga is unique and original. We haven't seen a star as good as Gaga in the last 20 years.

Simon is very particular about who he likes
He doesn't give praise for every popstar going. He is very particular i have noticed

He did praise Gaga after praising Beyonce. It was damage control after he said they were boring.

It's on DS somewhere.

“In a previous interview, he explained: "Lady GaGa has the X factor. She's smart and has real ambition.

"I think somebody like Lady GaGa defines exactly what we're looking for. She's both talented and interesting. She's worked it all out for herself. You never get the feeling somebody is controlling her.

You're joking I take it? Gaga is NOT original, I like her music, but she is a carbon copy mixture of Madonna, Britney, Christina, Kylie and Gwen Stefani, taking the best bits from each and saying how creative she is when really she just nicks it from other people.

cowell is NO spokesperson when it comes to recognising talent... he wrote off both kate bush and david bowie, arguably our two MOST talented artists...

Depends on your definition of "original". You can original, but not originating. In my book, "original" means innovating not inventing. i.e. The concept of wearing meat pre-existed her, but she went about it in an original way by wearing a meat dress outwith conceptual into reality.

And you can't be a "carbon copy" if you're a "mixture of Madonna, Britney, Christina, Kylie and Gwen Stefani". She's either exactly like someone, or a melting pot of several people. Not both.

And that link is saying Christina copied Gaga, not vice versa.

Whoops, apologies. I could have sworn he basically said the same thing about Beyonce at the same time as that with Gaga.

Maybe he's still trying to dig himself out of the hole of calling Beyonce "unsexy".

lol
and that she can't sing or something

----

I just don't like how he allowed himself to say this

Quote:
““It was still obviously in her head what I said. I apologised, because I was wrong. She sang better than I have ever heard anyone sing in my life live, and at one point just looked over at me and went [with her eyes], 'criticise that'.””

Like really?
Didn't you have Gaga, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Christina on your show? The Gaga performance on xfactor was the best performance the show has ever seen.

I don't think so, see the others didn't need gimmicks to make their performance good.

Cowell has spoken.

The problem with Cowell is that he does literally believe his own hype-and has done for years..

He has never, ever discovered and/or signed a truly credible act, most of his 1990s output was either TV Star's turned singers rip off bout bands/rip off girl bands and prior to that he was mentored by Peter Waterman-what a legacy eh.

His real talent, and you cannot deny this, is making money.

I knew he had turned down Take That (possibly the Spice Girls as well) but having just read that he described Kate Bush and Bowie as haveing little talent, well really-no wonder he said Wand Erection where going to be as big as the Beatles.

TBH, I dont think Gaga or Beyonce give a toss about what he thinks about them-sure they may appear appear on his shows and play the game (oh simon your so great blah blah blah), but that is about as much 'playing him' as him using them as ratings pullers.

Simon is funny. He made a statement about Beyonce that was misunderstood by her fans and now in an attempt to save face, he ended up completely kissing her ass This is TOO hilarious!!You GO Beyonce fans!!

So, I disagree with Simon about Beyonce and I disagree with the OP about GaGa.These statements with superlative make me dizzy.Who is the biggEST star??Who is the BEST performer??Who is the MOST massive saller??Who is the MOST discussed? It's just all so tiring and pointless.Nobody is the best or the worst, this is all subjective...

I won't even bother answering directly to the OP because he/she is obviously a VERY passionate GaGa stan and sorry, but I see a lot of delusion there...But of course when another artist gets some praise, the other fanbases will jump on it and say their fave deserves it more

Co-sign and that's exactly the reason why I'm glad he praised Beyonce (who is indeed a brilliant performer, "the best" is subjective) and not one of my faves.

Well, the article is wrong, Christina wore that roughly a year before Gaga even became famous.

It depends. There are many aspects. And Simon also said something like "the biggest star of the last 20 years" in another interview about Beyonce (again trying to make her fans forgive him) and there can't possibly be ONE person who is the best for 20 years. They all have ups and downs.

Well that's arguable. Beyonce relies on her faux-feminism. Rihanna and christina relied heavily on sexual suggestion in their performances. So I'd say that's rubbish.

With all due respect, Christina's X Factor performance was more about the vocals and the same applies to Beyonce.I'm not denying or accepting that GaGa is a gimmick, I just think you're wrong about Christina and Beyonce.

This. Good Post.

R.E. The person who said Gaga's performance was the best on X Factor - No. The vocals were awful and the choreography was rubbish. And I say that as a fan.

My favourite XF performance is from Alicia Keys.

Compare her performance to Gaga's, she is is just walking about singing, while Gaga is in a bath and then sitting on a toilet
