I am just looking round for a new deal sim only and was wondering about the 3mobile PAYG £15 a month add on, does that mean thats all I pay or do I have to pay that on top of PAYG charges it doesn't seem a bad deal with all you can eat data.
Sorry never done PAYG before bit confused.

Exactly that.

Pay £15 and you get what it says on the tin for 30 days. A good deal.

The £15 add-on gets you 300 minutes, 3000 texts and all-you-can-eat data for 30 days.

If within those 30 days you go over the 300 minutes or 3000 texts you have to pay for the calls/texts using prepaid credit. If you have no credit you can't make the calls.

After the 30 days it all expires and you would need to buy a new add-on.

Worth mentioning you can't use tethering with the pay as you go tariff but besides that it is a good deal

Yup, tethering is only available on the contract one plan. You can't use P2P on any network including Three

I'm on payg on 3 and have been tethering for a while. I only use it to browse a few websites during my dinner break. I imagine if I was using large amounts of data then they would stop it.

Can you load on to the phone say £75 then buy an add-on every month that way you have six months worth of add-ons without having to keep putting money on there?

It is against the terms and conditions though for the light usage you describe you may get away with it. Some phones allow networks to lock out the tethering feature (the iPhone for one) so you'd probably find if you used your sim in one of those phones it wouldn't work. Some phones don't allow it to be locked out (android ones from memory) so from sounds of it you have one of them. There are also hacks to get round it but again if 3 notice they will in all likelihood terminate the sim for breach of terms

You may have to do multiple top ups to get to £75 especially if using vouchers but I don't see why not. Just be warned that if any part of your allowance runs out, data being the worst example, it will start draining your stored cash credit instead until your allowance resets or you buy another bolt on.

I also believe 3 give a small amount of data free each time you top up but it's only valid for 30 days which would be a down side to the method you propose

On a similar theme then, what about 3's PAYG dongle plan?

I want to be able to use my laptop while I'm out and about and I don't want any limits as to how much I can use and 3's coverage seems to be the best around here.

I don't want a contract and I don't mind buying a dongle so what's the score then?

The iPhone isn't locked out, I tether mine occasionally (if my broadband is down) on the £15 PAYG add on.

I use a un-locked Mifi dongle on Three with anything upto four computers connected at any given time.

I brought a 12Gb PAYG sim from the 3 web site for £54 and has an expiry date of 12 months.

Been using now for 2 months using 1.5Gb so far so it looks like it will last a whole year for me so just over fifty quid for a years broadband cant be bad.
