I have read that it is possible to get the astra 1 and hotbird channels with the Samsung SMT S7800 Freesat box.Is that true and if yes how is it done?? Will it read from a discec switch
From what I've read, it doesn't have DiSEqC support right now, but the G2 standard specifies some DiSEqC support and Samsung have said they will update the box to G2 standard when it is launched in a few months time.

But does it have any method of selecting sat A or B?
i.e. how would it know which LNB to look at?

Without a seperate dish pointing at another satellite or a dish with offset lnb's there is no way.
Of course i have a dish/lnb pointed at astra 1 at 19 e but when i do a manual tune as suggested above the box just tunes to the equivalent astra 2 frequency
I'm also interested in this. I want to watch F1 next year, but I am not prepared to may £600 for the privilege. I have only just escaped Sky, I won't be going back.
