t.A.T.u are a female pop duo...they had a huge hit in the UK with All The Things She Said...and they entered Eurovision for Russia.

I think Tatu had disbanded now,
but yes , you are right...
maybe the hottest thing in pop music during the noughties...

There was overt lesbianism there but they make some great records and albums.

As for girl trios.... there were the Andrews Sisters way back
but more recently Atomic Kitten had a good run.

Putting together a 5 girl group... the spices... was an unusual step and could so easily have fallen on its face.

Instead they went from strength to strength and even cracked America !
Then the money really started rolling in.

Ginger spice left and they changed to a quartet with no probs, they were still as popular as ever.

Just shows what the public appetite is like......... the Spices fade out
and Girls Aloud comes on the scene.

Five very attractive young women hardly out of their teens... they go from strength to strength, but , unlike the Spices.... they havent cracked America..... yet !

I wouldn't say Spice girls were as popular as ever when Geri left
Their music got crap by the third album and it wasn't a flop but it wasn't a huge seller like their first two albums. Spice girls burned out too too quickly. Most girlbands are still growing by the third album,

Theres a whole different pop culture over in Germany
with brass bands, with schlager music , with lederhosen...

Its like pop music meets folk music but on a bigger scale than
anything in the UK.

Over here everything is compartmentalized, pop is all studio
based and over commercial

Over in Germany they get out into the countryside and by
the lakes and rivers.....

...........they get out into the open air..
not forever in some poxy BBC studio !
