Hi,
Does the pre-ordering for the new iPhone start at midnight tonight, or later in the day?
And how easy or hard will it be to order one? Do you think there will be a shortage of them and handsets selling for double money on eBay etc?
Thanks.

Apple hasn't said so no-one knows. iPad 2's were available to buy from midnight though.

Try the store at midnight, if it's not available then go to bed and try again in the morning.

I would imagine Apple have learnt their lesson regarding stock levels and there won't be any issues.

Are people really that desperate? what 24 hours it'll take time to get to you anyway, it won't be posted anywhere till working hours and they have plenty of stock as they've been stacking up stock for weeks and weeks.

They ain't gonna sell out in 1 hour and really people do go a bit silly over these things.

I've seen 8am mentioned on other sites. Same time they go on sale in the US.

If it helps, Australia haven't been accepting orders from midnight 07/10, so it's likely it's the same time as US, 08:01am.

I won't be able to order until about 9am, do you think that will be too late to get one delivered on the 14th?

As long as they don't sell out in the first hour.

I remember at 12:30 in the afternoon the iPhone 4 was released it was still available for delivery on the first day but that didn't last much longer than that

If I preorder an iPhone 4S on the apple store, what contract tariffs will I get if I decide to get a pay monthly contract? It says on their website that I can get the phone on pay monthly rate plan through the apple store...

The page is currently offline. Varying between 'We'll be back soon' message and various error messages.

Anyone on Vodafone looking to upgrade? Can you check the upgrade price for the 32GB? I'm with o2 (who haven't announced prices) so would like to know what kind of price I'm looking at and whether it's worth tweaking my tariff. Upgrade prices aren't viewable to non-account holiders.

hoped O2 would start letting you order from 8 but clearly not... hoping they will start soon!

Decided to order it from Apple. £600. Seems like a lot.

Then I checked the current upgrade price for the equivalent 32GB iPhone 4 model. £479. Realised that upgrading to the 4s was at least going to be the same or more, so will just reclaim the money by halving my tariff with simplicity. My calculations tell me I'll save about £100 in the long run.

Asking on a mate's behalf,

They have a few months left on their Orange contract (the 3-months upgrade before the end of contract period kicks in in January 2012). If she wasw to phone Orange to pre-order the 4S, would they let her out of the contract early to get one? i.e. Can she have one now and not bother waiting?

Compared what you would end up paying on contract vs PAYG from Apple and its quite surprising...

Vodaphone 24 month contract (32 GB iPhone 4s

100 (minutes) 500 (texts) 250MB (3g) £26 a month £439 (Handset) = 1063 combined!

Apple PAYG iPhone 4s

£599 - Stay on my simplicity which is more minutes + unlimited texts and 3g for £20 per month = £1079 (but obviously wouldn't keep it for 2 years as ill get the next iPhone)

May as well buy it on PAYG!

She probably can, but she'd have to pay an early upgrade price. It will not be cheap.

Maybe if she pays for the last couple months of this year. Worth asking them though, especially if she is a loyal customer

I'm ordering mine on Orange when I get into work! Oranges seem much better value and flexible than Vodafones or T-Mobiles...
