It was stated on Tuesday that the British networks were not able to begin negotiations until after the Apple announcement. So they have only had two days to work on their prices and tariffs.

The prices and tariffs seem good Am I wrong in thinking it's cheaper than the iPhone 4 when it came out? It certainly seems that way.

And Vodafone still selling the iPhone 4 at 16 GB and 32GB (with nice discount!)? I'm guessing that's until they sell out but interesting!

Now just need O2 to let me know!

My mate (who sits next to me at work) got an email from Apple about 30 mins ago. I've had nothing yet, despite ordering about 2 hours ago.

O2 will not be offering pre-orders.

Has ANYONE been given a upgrade quote for the 4GS? Digital Spy reckon you can upgrade for £228 (32GB) which seems ridiculously cheap.

I got mine via the Apple Store app - was in a lecture.

No email yet but I checked my online banking and the money has been held off after I done some calculations

So its looking good so far. Trying to get into the order history page on the site but its (unsurprisingly) not letting me do it.

Edit - finally got into Apple and its placed

Thats just converted US prices without VAT, it will be more expensive here I'm pretty sure!

Just had my email through from Apple. Would like to see an upgrade price before I start chopping away at my tariff. I think I've made a saving in the long run (although obviously the upfront cost is quite a bit more).

This is the usual mess from Apple.

I can't believe this isn't deliberate.

I've been trying for hours to pre-order and getting precisely nowhere.

Managed to get one just after the site came back but no confirmation email yet though. Also noticed the shipping times have slipped to 1-2 weeks already.

I've given up on the site. I'm going to queue outside the Apple Store on Friday morning, even though the whooping and hollering from the staff unsettles me somewhat.

My confirmation email just can through minutes ago (12.09) and I ordered mine around about say 09.50.

Exciting times!

Need to get a microsim sorted though. My brother has a micro sim cutter but I might just go into Orange to ask for one...

So does the SIM card in the 3gs not work in the 4s?

Will i just phone O2 and get them to send me one out?

I don't think any networks will offer subsidised upgrades initially, as demand at full price is clearly high at the moment.

No, the 4 and 4S use a smaller SIM card. You can either get a new one from your network or cut your existing SIM down to micro size.

I vowed after getting a 4 last year never to go near an Apple store for launch again. I wanted a sim free iPhone and as it was reserved I thought i could just pitch up, pay & leave. No chance. People had been queuing for 5-6 hours and not made the front yet.

They need 2 lines, one for people who just want to buy the phone, no fuss & leave. And the other for first timers who need the 15 minutes (FIFTEEN ! FFS) to have the phone explained to them. Not having just 4 staff selling and 10 others stood around would help a great deal too ! I can understand having massive queues outside the store adds to the hype and the interest generated by photos in the press is all good, but not for the poor souls stood in the queue !

The message from O2 on their facebook page:

We can confirm that to make sure we reach the largest amount of people on the day of launch, we will only be offering the iPhone 4S in store

still no email from apple but have managed to log back on to apple (now at home with a computer and having to try using my phone) and it is there as an order, and they have requested the money from my bank.

What cases (or other extras) are people getting?

I would like a case that can also hold at least 2cards, and suggestions. I have a great 'casemate' one on my 3gs and it looks great.
