I'd assume that that "upgrade" price is purely to buy your way out of your contract, and that you would still need to pay the up-front cost of the phone on top of that. Not really what people tend to consider an "upgrade".

Didn't O2 allow people people to pay off their contract at £20 a month last year?

Anyway, I have only two weeks before I'm due an upgrade, so I can wait Although whether I replace my HTC Desire with the Samsung GS2 or the iPhone 4S is still to be decided...

I am in the exact same situation.

I didnt really like the Android system after a year or so using it, and i prefer a phone which has a better music player so the iphone will be perfect for me.

However i am hoping Orange give me a really good deal other wise i may move onto 3 mobile.

What tariff are you currently on?

As others have said, that sounds like the cost of buying out of your current contract rather than an all-inclusive upgrade cost.

I have been out of contract with T-Mobile since May but held off from taking an upgrade waiting for the new iPhone.

Went onto the T-Mobile upgrade page via my account sign on Friday and found that the 'upgrade' deals being offered were exactly the same as if I was a new customer. No loyalty discount, which I had been offered by the sales people back in May if I signed up for a new contract.

As I only need a low usage contract (I currently have 100 mins + 100 texts + unlimited Internet) I've worked out it would be better to stay on my old contract conditions taking the 20% discount for contract renewal. Then buy an iPhone 4s outright from Apple and get my contract moved to a new micro SIM.

Am I right in thinking that Apple have the ability to move accounts from existing SIM cards across to micro SIMs?

Apple don't have anything to do with your network account. You'll need to get a micro SIM from T-Mobile.

I know that T-mobile can do it but charge £10 for the privilege and leave you without a working phone whilst you are awaiting the delivery.

I'm sure I read that if you are buying a SIM free iPhone instore at apple they have the ability to arrange directly with the operators to move your account to a micro SIM whilst you are there, and for no additional cost.....

No, the micro SIM has to come from your network, as per the FAQ section here: http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/hom.../family/iphone

Or you could try cutting your existing SIM down: http://www.macnotes.net/files/2010/0...3g-iphone4.pdf

So o2 are not letting you upgrade this time around for £20 or for free?

I am due an upgrade in December but i have a Iphone4 so i am not sure if its even worth upgrading to the 4s as its a pretty small update.

Has anyone actually exchanged their sim with Orange for a micro sim in here?

I just wanted to know as I need to get mine and plan on doing so in advance of the new phone to arrive.

I'm currently only on their iPhone sim only contract which I plan on getting cancelled. Instead I was going to either just get the iphone PAYG or a Dolphin package. Then finally porting my current number over.

How do Orange do the micro sims?

That FAQs for the online store. I'm sure I read in the T-mobile forums that they'll do the transfer in the physical Apple stores as part of the 'walk out working' service.....

I love how people just tell me that i'm wrong when they don't know me or don't know what I was told.

From O2.... and i quote!

'As a platinum customer you can upgrade early with O2 Rewards. You can do this from 7 March 2012, or you can pay £273.30 to Fast Track Upgrade now.

As I thought, that's just the cost of buying out of your current contract. For an all-inclusive upgrade cost you need to add the cost of the new handset if it's not free on the new tariff you've chosen.

Fair enough though, you must be signing up to a large tariff to be getting the 4S for free.

For reference, the Fast Track Upgrade terms and conditions are here:

http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditio...rentpromotions

In particular:

Before you can end your existing contract under this Offer you must:

- Have paid a one-off, non-refundable, charge. The charge is your normal monthly subscription charge multiplied by each complete month remaining of your minimum term or next Business upgrade date (as calculated by O2) less 20% and then less the VAT (where applicable) on that remaining figure (the "Fast Track Upgrade Fee");

- Sign up for a new 12, 18 or 24 month minimum term Pay Monthly or 12 or 24 month minimum term Business Mobile Agreement with O2 with a phone at the normal price for that phone and on our current relevant tariff terms at the time you sign up for the Offer. The Offer is not available if you want to sign up to a simplicity or sim only tariff

Hi I was thinking of pre-ordering an iphone 4S from the Apple online store however I think I may be visting an Apple shop probably a week or two after the launch date so it may be easier for me to pick it up from a store.

Does anyone know, based on previous years, are Apple stores generally sold out of the product for a number of months after the launch or do they not sell out at all?

Thanks in advance.

No idea what in-store availability will be like a couple of weeks after launch, but the online store is now saying "dispatched in 1-2 weeks" for pre-orders on all models.

The retail stores tend to sell out on launch day, but should then get more stock each week. If you miss it at launch, you then have to hope that when the store does get more stock, it doesn't all go before you get a chance to pick one up.

For the 3GS, the Apple website had a stock checker for 3GS availability at the retail stores - you just had a look at it after 9pm to see if your chosen store would have stock the next day. Apple didn't do that for the 4 though...

The online store also always sells out, with estimated dispatch dates becoming longer...

They do both settle down, once the initial rush has gone and once the supply has steadied, but it can take a while.
