I have just bought the very good sony J70 mobile phone and i noticed it could send/recieve POP3 email.

i entered the following details:
provider number: 08089933001
provider details
Pop3: mail.btinternet.com
smtp: mail.btinternet.com
userename : private
password: private
ISDN
Email details
userename : private
password: private
emailrivate@btinternet.com

but alas i keep getting an error message after a couple of secounds after it starts dialing

though the system works if u have registered with oranges internet service provider. and that works exactly the same way.
i doubt it orange would limit the sony phone only to recieve orange net emails???

can anyone help me

0808 prefix numbers as far as I'm aware only work from a fixed BT telephone line. Therefore dialling that number from anywhere else, be it cable line, mobile etc won't work.

I think you'll find this is the case.

You'll have to use their 0845 number instead.
