Contracts via Carphone Warehouse - advice please.

I'm considering leaving Orange and moving to another network via Carphone Warehouse. I was wondering what people's experience are if the pros and cons of CW contracts.

One thing I can't fault Orange about is the Orange Care insurance. What's CWsinsurance like. They made a big deal to me about the fact that they replace with new phones as opposed to Orange's refurbished models, but this is no good if they quibble about every claim, unlike Orange, who are very good about replacing phones without too much hassle.

Cpw insurance allows you to get out of your contract at any point I think.

Thanks.

Any other experiences of Carphone Warehouse?

I got a free Taste Card from CPW and have already (two months) racked up about seventy five quids worth of savings.

Your contract is still with whichever company.

I have a HTC that in the first 6 months was faulty constantly, CW were great with taking it to be repaired, no questions asked. But to get the money back from Orange for the time when I obviously did not have a phone was an absolute nightmare. I personally think Orange customer service is pretty abysmal.

However apparantly Orange let you upgrade 4 months before your contract is over, and it is the only company that allow a "complete" upgrade this soon, other networks offer upgrades on a scaling system, so you will get a better deal the longer you leave it. You can't cancel the contract through CW.

CW are good at telling you what contract is best, as they don't have to sell any particular company, so I'd go have a chat with them, then get the best deal directly.

Thanks for the useful reply.

I realise the contract is with the MNO. However I thought that billing etc is with the CPW - i.e they are reselling the airtime - and that therefore once you take out the contract, you are still likely to be dealing with them a lot of the time. Is this not correct and in fact you only have to deal with them at the time you take out the contract and in the event of any insurance claim?

What's a Taste Card?

I suppose I really want to know if there's any major reason why I should avoid CW. Are there any pitfalls to getting a contract phone through them?

OP was after VOD. Catchup TV is more live TV I think. Excellent for that though.
