No. It was their management and producers that decide the sound, and guess what -- they're still around.

Keisha and Mutya have ZERO production skills, and their songwriting amounts to little bits here and there. The Saturdays have more input in their music than Keisha and Mutya ever had with Sugababes.

The current line-up is the only one that's actively co-writing their entire album, and on-top of that, determining vocal arrangements.

They don't have a back catalogue of their own, no. So why are the continuing under the Sugababes name? Why not make their OWN future and their own music? That's my issue. Then we wouldn't have to have "the closest thing to the Sugababes" - they would be their own band.

I actually specifically referred to Keisha and Mutya's voices and attitudes.

You seem pretty proud of the fact that the 4.0 are actively co-writing their album and doing the vocal arrangements... so how does it make you feel that people still aren't interested? It's because they have no sparkle. They're all good vocalists but they're nothing exciting. Good on paper, lousy in real life.

I just don't see why they can't make their own stuff and stop trying to rely on the Sugababes name to keep them talked about. People would respect them more for it I think. Sticking with the Sugababes name is mostly the reason that people don't care - aside from the fact that their music aint anything special.

That's a business thing and not my responsibility. The label obviously wants to keep the name because of the reputation that is attached to it and all the loyal fans that will give them a chance just because of the name (even though that backtracked).I don't really care about their name tbh.No matter how much I love them, the Sugababes were always disposable.I shall remind you that this is not the first line-up change If Keisha and Mutya (that people are trying to present as victims) hadn't accepted to keep going after Siobahn's departure, they wouldn't be considered disposbale. However, they kept going then and they even kept going when the 2nd original member left, so they have become 100% maunfactured since 'Red Dress'.Regardless about how special Mutya's and Keisha's vocals and attitudes were, they still made themselves label puppets by not reacting to the constant changes. So, I don't mind who is in the band as long as the line-up is talented and promising and as long as Heidi (whom I consider an original member) is still in there.

They don't have a back catalogue because they have never released an album of their own.'Sweet 7' that made them flops was Keisha's concept and it was initially recorded by 3.0., but then Jade went alone in the studio to re-record Keisha's parts, so that was sloppy and not a decision of 4.0.This line-up has just begun. My point in ALL the 4.0 rants is that we should all wait. All we have now is a buzz single with a Nokia-fund video.I don't get why everyone writes them off when we haven't even listened to what THEY have been working on for months. If you don't want to wait until their album, just wait until the lead single to decide whether they represent the name well and whether they deserve a chance

I'm actually for a name change. I do think the Keisha, Mutya and One Touch fans are amongst the worst online (not as polarizing as Little Monsters, but close), and the Sugababes name is tainted and will hold 4.0 back.

But I don't reckon it'll happen.

Yeah I'm pretty sure we will.

Even if Sony dropped them (which is not going to happen because they are pretty much just distributing their new music, and aren't investing anything into the creative side), Crown would just release the album themselves. Crown makes all their money from concerts/PAs/merchandise, so until all that stops, the girls are pretty much indestructible.

That is why they are still called Sugababes. If the "brand" wasn't considerably profitable (which it still is, supposedly more than ever as Crown now fully own it), they would have been renamed 2 years ago.
