Predictable FAQs

I thought I would start a thread with some generic questions that people may have:

What are the couples dancing tonight?
All 14 couples are dancing either a Foxtrot or Salsa.

Why are Russell and Holly dancing another latin?
The BBC probably think Salsas are more exciting to watch.

What time is SCD on tonight?
It is a two hour show from 18.05 to 20.05.

Do last week scores effect the leaderboard?
Yes the scores will be combined with this weeks.

Is there an elimination?
Yes there is - one couple will be voted off this weekend.

When is the results show?
The results show is again on Sundays - tomorrow at 7.25.
It is pre-recorded tonight so NOT live.
Claudia and Tess will present it.

Thank you for that!

Sorry can I ask another predictable question?

Is it the same format as last year when the couple with the lowest overall total goes out, or. Is the dance off back?

Thanks

The scores will affect (verb) the leader board, because they will have an effect (noun) upon it.

Another question for this week:
Why were they allowed lifts in the salsa?

Lifts are allowed in a few dances - American Smooth (2) , Argentine Tango (3), salsa (3) and of course the showdance (as many as wanted). Lifts may creep into others, where they are theoretically not allowed, but the judging has not been consistent on this.

It would be nice if the judges clarified this.
Craig picked up the fact the Alex's for left the floor last week (similar to Kara last year) even thought James wasn't actually trying to do a lift.

But last year flying in a harness and being picked up and whirled by Anton every week was fine

There is no dance off its the lowest combined score/vote that goes home

Lifts are alllowed in Salsa because Salsa, like American Smooth is not part of the 10 dance competition dances which dont allow lifts.

So, does that mean that lifts definitely will not be allowed in the 10 dance competition dances?

Well obviously that should be the case BUT this is Strictly and their own rules and interpretations apply so I cant answer that one as I am only a fan/viewer, but if this was a genuine competition then a full (two feet off the floor) lift is not allowed in any of the 10 dances which are

Cha cha
Samba
Jive
Paso
Rumba
Waltz
Foxtrot
Quickstep
Vienesse Waltz
Ballroom Tango

But as I said above this is Strictly not a full blown 10 dance competition so who knows........Craig picked up James on their lift in the Cha Cha but completely ignored Brendan's in his (however that might have come across as kicking Lulu when she was down)

Lttle bit of a bump as this is a useful thread to avoid duplicate threads!

Question:
Do the pros choose their own music?

As far as I know, the pros used to submit a shortlist of songs for each dance, and would be given whichever one the producers can get the rights to. I noticed last night Flavia saying they had been given their track for this week - is that because it is a themed week? Do they still get to pick the rest of the time? I would love to know how the pros currently get their music as I remember Brendan having a very unsuitable waltz track last year, and many of the salsa tracks on Saturday weren't great either.

I think she said they "got" their track which might mean they got their top pick as opposed to one of the other choices submitted. No insider knowledge here, just interpretation.

Will the money from the telephone votes go to Children In Need like it usually does?

It hasn't done for several years now. However, the money from the tickets for the Wembley show on November 19th WILL be going to Children in Need.

I think CV is trying to be ironic. But FT is right, even about the Wembley thingie.

I guessed CV was being ironic, but since it's a question that is frequently asked, I thought I'd answer it anyway and mention Wembley at the same time. Hopefully we will hear at the end of this week if we've been lucky enough to be allocated tickets for Wembley - I think they said Oct. 14th on the reply?

This may be predictable, but it's not to me.

I have a question:

Does anybody know.
Who decides which dances the couples perform each week?

I ask this, as I saw on ITT a few days back, that Natalie and Audley mentioned that they were going to perform a Samba this weekend, and Natalie said on the show that they felt better doing the Quickstep, so it was changed to that dance instead.

So who chooses the dances for each couple? - The Pro-Dancer? The Shows Producer?

Just interested as I have never heard a Pro-Dancer say before, we have changed our dance this week? I thought they just had to get on with it and train the celeb.

Good thread - I have a question

Whatever happened to that nice Nicole Cutler? and her lovely ex hubby?

Just kidding!!!!

I always assumed that they are allocated a timetable of dances by production and the 2 selected dances are split 50:50 to make it more interesting
