Today, 18:05 on BBC One
Week 2
All 14 couples hit the floor with either a fanciful foxtrot or a sizzling salsa.

I've never started a discussion thread before!

Still a bit peeved that some couples are doing Latin 2 weeks in a row.

Who's out this week?

Blulu and Nancy should go, but I doubt they will even be bottom 2

Hoping Audley has some Cuban heels for tonight. Chelsee has good support and there is some car crash dances (just for the fun and cos I am evil).

What difference does it make if they do two Latin dances in a row? Some of them are only one for a couple of weeks and as long as the stayers do the required number of different dances I couldn't care less.

And thanks for the thread.

Will there be spoilers tonight - I really hope so.

I do suspect that the doubling up on Latin has been done to favour Russell.

Although one might think that a fast dance would be hard for him, we saw last week how Flavia choreographed a clever comedy routine to play up on Russell's big personality.
I suspect we we see something similar this week with their Salsa.

However, their is not so much room for comedy in a Foxtrot and it is a very fast ballroom dance with "nowhere to hide", which is why i think it has been avoided for Russell.

Am here for this live weekend, should be a lot of fun

Can't wait to see what Russell comes up with after the Batusi last week

May also be simply that Latin dances are more "entertaining" for whatever reason so start & end the show ion a high.

I just think that one Latin and one Ballroom would enable us to get a better feel for their ability in different disciplines.

Last year there was no doubling up i think.

I would agree with this. I was really looking forward to see how they all did in a different discipline. Ola can't dance around Robbie so much in a ballroom, can Anita get down and dirty, is salsa hard for Tall People like Dan and Audley...

Given how Holly was a bit hesitant, I'd love to see her in a ballroom. I'd also like to see Russell in a non-comedy routine (though I think I'm going to be waiting some time for that). Seems a little unfair that the others get to show their versatility (or lack thereof) but not these two. I agree it seems set up to help Russell, but it doesn't help Holly either.

BIB agree with this particularly. Cha cha and Salsa are so similar, fast fun dances. It would've been nice to see both Russell and Holly tackling a Foxtrot!

Am glad you did

me too - really want everyone to do ballroom AND latin so we can see how they are.

But tonight, if I could have ANY SCD wish, it would be that BOTH BLulu AND Nanciful would float off into the ether...

Ow I feel sorry for anyone who will miss Strictly live. I am thanking having a cold as to why I'll be kept in tonight as otherwise I would be watching the recording 2moro (which oddly always makes me feel behind the 'moment').

Looking forward to the boys performances this series (which isn't usually the case for me on viewing previous series). This year the boy celebs just seem more interesting (like Robbie, Harry, Russel and Jason....maybe even Rory), though obv time will tell if that interest maintains itself ! Out of the girls no one really, apart from Chelsee who I think has the moves!

Good points, I also think Russell's "big personality" will start to wear a bit thin with the viewers, after a couple of weeks.

But maybe he'll be kept in because some viewers have a sense of humour and enjoy the comedy.
Perhaps when it's all done and dusted one of his performances might get the "roll" treatment.

I agree with you. Chelsee's salsa looked so good. If she doesnt make any mistakes, she can find herself top of the leaderboard or within the top 3.
I just hope that her latin outfit looks gd not like the horror she wore on the live show.
