Hi,

I bought a universal remote control because I think my one for my TV has packed in.
I'm trying to set it up just now and having a bit of trouble. It has TV/DVD/SAT/VCR along the top but my TV has freeview build into it. What do I used to set up the freeview part? TV or SAT?

You need to set it up as Tv.

thanks. I've tried all the codes but it's not working. Been doing an automatic scan for a good few minutes now and still nothing!

What make/model of Tv is it?
Is it a TV-VCR Combi?
It's possible there's nothing wrong with your original remote and it's the IR sensor on the Tv that's faulty.

It is a Goodmans 15 inch tv and no it's not, it's just a TV with built in freeview. Need to switch to DTV to watch freeview.

Ah, so is the universal remote controlling the Tv but it doesn't have a source or input button on it to allow you to select DTV?
Is that the problem?

no, the remote is not controlling anything. I can't get any of the codes to work on DTV or on the TV setting on the television using both the TV and SAT buttons on the remote.

Forget about the SAT setting on the remote.
Goodmans is just a brand name, they don't manufacture TVs, they just rebadge or use another manufacturers chassis usually Vestel so try all codes listed for that make.
What's the TVs model no?...you'll find it printed on the label on the rear of the set.

There's a list of codes for the Goodmans brand but I'll try Vestel too.

It's LD1540WD
